Anyways getting back on topic here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=469839&page=2
Dude put a single 5870 into his m15x and hit over 100 degrees, and had to have a notebook cooler get it to a more stable heat. I knew those cards run REAL HOT. And yet many of you still think that a crossfire one is coming out within weeks, if not days now into the m17x. How are 2 of these things going to run in there at those temps? And I don't think the m15x is going to be a whole lot different from the m17x in terms of cooling. -
I don't think 5870's are coming out within this week. i think the reason AW didn't talk about releaseing the 5870s in Cebit was because they weren't sure when they would have the 5870s XF ready. seems like it's going to be a while before we see them.
-
I think that either that guy was lying or he didn't install the 5870 correctly. There's no way the card would run hotter in the M15x than a G73. The M15x from my experience cools just as well as a Sager 8690 (I owned both of them) and the temps were actually a bit better in the M15x. -
Seems like that's it. no 5870s show up, no more "coming very soon" or "coming before April". Time to terminate the camping guys.
-
-
Hence why I refrained from camping for it and just enjoyed the R2 since release. -
-
Likewise.. Glad I did too.
Really enjoying My R2.
it was everything I thought it would be & more.
Best PC I've ever purchased.
No problems for me yet... -

Same, the last notebook I liked as much as my M17x was well the M15x lol! And before that the Dell XPS 1710, I loved that thing till the graphics card died on it for good. -
this is the orginal link, however, u have to register as a member to see the pics. here is some of the pic in Chinese. i don't know if u guys can see.if not PLS delet. -
again, first time post pics. i found they r too large. if it's not ok or u guys can not see it. pls delete

Lol, the temperature reading itself can be glitched. If Everest is showing you 250C do you really believe? I had a glitch with the beta 10.3 drivers and my 4870s were about 90C, but the keys wouldn't actually heatup more than usual so it wasn't an actual 90c, it was just 70c max. So it could either be drivers or BIOS related issue, both not impossible to fix
Now to prove that you can't rely on those readings (if you need one)

I'm joining the crowd(jumping ship?) and passing the 5870 for dual 4870s.
-
ati 5870's in crossfire aren't the only thing to consider "camping out" for...

My CF is disabled most of the time lately as my games run flawlessly on max on a single card. So there's plenty of headroom yet, before the 4870CF turns extinct.

Dell broke my plan
Now I'm using 3 laptops at the same timeOne is gonna be returned to base. One is for sale and one is for girlfriend.
So in a week or two I will end up having no laptop
With quite a few nice sound equipments around instead
I miss my M17x -
Don't worry, silly.
I am waiting for my R2 and so far 10 days in pre-production. I have no system - been fighting with my brother to use his desktop.
Not. Good. -
Yeah, my M17X is going away from me...to another room. And the new ThinkPad is stuck in Limbo...
And worst of all, I won the Dell Mini contest...they're sending me a mini...painted in green.... -
I'm using an old school Area-51 m15x until my m17x arrives.
-
Try a 2002 custombuilt desktop with 512mbs of ram and only 2gbs free space. i has a dinosaur
-
I don't feel sorry for you guys as I'm currently using a Latitude E6500 with 1280x800 res (I think the brightness is about 50 nits
). Hopefully my Asus and Thinkpad come back soon. I can wait for the 5870s plus I just asked for a quote from my sales rep for a M6500 Covet to replace the Latitude. Hopefully I'll have something better soon.
-
I hope you don't plan on carrying that covet around too much. lol
No where near as portable as your latitude. -
Yes back and forth from work. It's more driving than walking.
-
Good luck.
The M6500 is pretty much equivalent to the M17x, especially the covet. lol -
-
-
Do you intend to get a calibrator like Spyder3? -
....I'm going to wait for octuplet 5890's before I buy my Alienware laptop.

I will say that we are getting extremely close to the availability of the 5870's.
Extremely close -
-
Maybe 6 months.. who knows lol
-
-
Get ready for some fun!
-
I know you guys are getting impatient. lol
And I am NOT that mean to play an April fool's joke with the seriousness of the 5870.
If I do that all hell will break loose and ppl will start to get banned around here. lol -
-
So you are serious then? A week? A month? I haven't heard any rumours even from our AMD reps. Do you think Dell is actually into some proprietary affairs now?
-
I am serious.
I don't have a time frame as my sources can't give one
I just know what they are doing ATM and progress is being made. This is really silly because other ODM's already have them available, albeit in single and not dual card configurations.
But still, I could see being uber excited if no one had these out yet and Dell was going to be the first. -
If you could get the info about the current stage the process is at...
