Anyways getting back on topic here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=469839&page=2

Dude put a single 5870 into his m15x and hit over 100 degrees, and had to have a notebook cooler get it to a more stable heat. I knew those cards run REAL HOT. And yet many of you still think that a crossfire one is coming out within weeks, if not days now into the m17x. How are 2 of these things going to run in there at those temps? And I don't think the m15x is going to be a whole lot different from the m17x in terms of cooling.

I don't think 5870's are coming out within this week. i think the reason AW didn't talk about releaseing the 5870s in Cebit was because they weren't sure when they would have the 5870s XF ready. seems like it's going to be a while before we see them.

I think that either that guy was lying or he didn't install the 5870 correctly. There's no way the card would run hotter in the M15x than a G73. The M15x from my experience cools just as well as a Sager 8690 (I owned both of them) and the temps were actually a bit better in the M15x.

Seems like that's it. no 5870s show up, no more "coming very soon" or "coming before April". Time to terminate the camping guys.

You might be right. Even the reliable sources on this forum have been quiet lateley regarding this matter.

The info is from a Chinese AW forum and someone did post some pics include temperature, benchmarking and so on. while all in Chinese of course. But i am not sure if the pics are original or been edited. the source of the card looks like a testing card and he just borrowed that from someone.

Lol, the temperature reading itself can be glitched. If Everest is showing you 250C do you really believe? I had a glitch with the beta 10.3 drivers and my 4870s were about 90C, but the keys wouldn't actually heatup more than usual so it wasn't an actual 90c, it was just 70c max. So it could either be drivers or BIOS related issue, both not impossible to fix ;)
Now to prove that you can't rely on those readings (if you need one)

My CF is disabled most of the time lately as my games run flawlessly on max on a single card. So there's plenty of headroom yet, before the 4870CF turns extinct.

Now I'm using 3 laptops at the same time  One is gonna be returned to base. One is for sale and one is for girlfriend.

So in a week or two I will end up having no laptop :(

With quite a few nice sound equipments around instead

    I miss my M17x

    Don't worry, silly.

I am waiting for my R2 and so far 10 days in pre-production. I have no system - been fighting with my brother to use his desktop.

    Not. Good.

I don't feel sorry for you guys as I'm currently using a Latitude E6500 with 1280x800 res (I think the brightness is about 50 nits  ). Hopefully my Asus and Thinkpad come back soon. I can wait for the 5870s plus I just asked for a quote from my sales rep for a M6500 Covet to replace the Latitude. Hopefully I'll have something better soon.

No where near as portable as your latitude.

The M6500 is pretty much equivalent to the M17x, especially the covet. lol

Doesn't matter. If I can get used to the glare of the M17x I can get use to any of them.

I know, this would also replace my desktop at work.

    I am serious.

I don't have a time frame as my sources can't give one ;)

I just know what they are doing ATM and progress is being made. This is really silly because other ODM's already have them available, albeit in single and not dual card configurations.

But still, I could see being uber excited if no one had these out yet and Dell was going to be the first.
