Anyone else experience the marks on their screen from the touchpad?

I can actually see hexegon marks. They won't clean off either.

do you have the two rubber pieces on the sides preventing the screen from touching ?

I get the marks as well, despite having the rubber feet.

I have gotten them before and but with using a microfiber cloth and some water they came right off the screen.

Yep, I get them often but a microfiber cloth does the trick.
Nothing to worry about. I'm more worried about finding a dead pixel. It's not too noticeable but still, a bit annoying.

Yea and once you notice it, your eyes go there every time you look at the screen lol

Lol, yeah. But I'm not too worried about it. If those dead pixels start multiplying - I'll worry.

Don't worry, just get a regular LCD cleaner spray and use a little on your microfiber. Should work fine. Those are not permanent scratches. I carry my system all the time, as well and have those marks. They are 100% removable! :)

I have an M15X and get the marks as well. I'm not worried about them. I haven't tried to remove them yet as they're hardly noticeable.

Trust me. These are not removable. They are, clearly, from the touchpad though. They are not that noticable, so it is not a huge deal.

I got these on my M15X also.
Luckily, I can clean them but I'm a bit worried the touchpad regularly touching the screen might leave some scratches...
I'm thinking of leaving a thin microfiber cloth on the touchpad every time I carry the laptop in my backpack.

yeah, i get those hexagons a bit, they come off for me too. the main prolem i have now is that it appears 2 little "things" got on or around the touchpad and have made 2 little chip like scratches on my screen. not noticable unless your looking for them. kinda looks like smudges but they are little holes in it. :(

I'd trust you insofar as its not worth it to assume you're lying. It suffices to say that either something is physically flawed with your system:for example, a manufacturing defect where something like the hinges are smaller than they should be causing the screen to be pressed so hard against the touchpad when closed that it is actually causing damage to the screen, OR there is a fundamental flaw in the design of the M17x in general, meriting a recall or some other fix.

I'd like to think its the former rather than the latter, as I've never noticed these marks and all who have noticed them were able to remove them easily.

Either way, it deserves you checking into this more with alienware if it bothered you enough to bring it up on the forums...

I got a replacement screen / touchpad section cuz I was having those marks plus tiny scratches appear around the rubber guard areas. After 6 months, there were a ton of little specs that wouldn't come off so it became a big distraction for me. After getting new screen I've been using the carrying case the machine came with and put it half over the screen; its still shiny as ever with no marks.

thats sounds like a good idea. you put the lil alienware sleave thing between the screen and the keyboard? which side gets it the protection? the front cover or bottom?

My guess would be the front cover. You don't see the bottom and the cover is slimmer with less to catch on as you slide the cover over. Since reading this thread, I have been hunting for my cover to do just that.

Do as Momiji1 suggested, make a screen sleeve, or place a thin microfiber towel between the screen and keyboard.

Thanks for the ideas! I will begin using the sleeve to prevent the marks from worsening.
