    Hi pooh466,
What you're experiencing is a micro stutter issue. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is lower your resolution and some of the graphic settings. The stutter won't be as noticeable. However, Im hoping the next video driver will address the issue. Also, I'm sure you've already checked your settings, but make sure your running on "high performance" and that you also don't have stealth enabled.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Are you running those games in "Windowed Mode"?
Also, Check your temps with HW monitor, if one gpu is hot and the other is cold, That game might not be using SLI. I had issues with mine running in windowed mode on crysis and CoD4.

The lag, how long does it normally last? You might be describing microstuttering-this is common when you have SLi or Crossfire-however by the looks of things you're describing an issue with HybridSLI, I think. If I remember rightly, you could try updating the drivers and if that doesn't work, go into the BIOS and disable HybridSLI. (or something around those lines, anyway-HybridSLI is only so you can switch to the 9400M for battery life quickly, disabling it will not affect performance)

THIS IS A BIG STUTTERING... WHEN TO START THE ACTION, ALSO BEGINS Stuttering(IN ALL MY GAMES), I DIE AND I DUNNO WHY, THEN ITS NORMALLY EVERYTHING ... SO I CAN T PLAY. AND YES, I ENABLE AND DISABLE THE HYBRIDSLI.

Had similar issues with mine before it went back, to minimise or cure such affects try some of the following in addition to what others have stated, Stuttering is due to burst of activity or resource being suddenly demanded for some reason or another, the demand could be anywhere in the system, i.e. suddenly on or from the HDD, Memory, GPU's, Ethernet, Wireless Access, Bluetooth, etc for varying known or unknown reasons:

    1. Check your power management in Command Centre ensure it is full power and check on boost/stealth mode, cycle twice through to ensure any and all settings have definitely switched over to full power boost mode in SLi.

    2. Check Nvidia control panel settings, the main slider screen, try performance and quality setting and test the games again, check enable SLi is checked as well as Phys X etc, also check on the global settings for the GPU and restore to default values also check your game specific profiles and restore to default incase you have made any changes.

    3. Once you have done the above and only then, whilst you are plugged in, restart and go into Bios: go to graphics setting and disable the discrete onboard 9400M, forcing your dual 280Ms to kick in at all times when plugged into AC power. However I found doing this caused more issues at times such as loss of sound in some apps or DX10 problems as well as freezes and BSODs, It helped in some cases, whilst in others it was better leaving everything alone in Bios to enabled.

    4. Ensure any antivirus software is not scanning (background scanning) as well as any windows updates or win defender updates not underway when playing games, or any other in or outbound downloading etc. Switch any antivirus scans to manual not scheduled, and also change windows updates to manual i.e. notify prompt and advise you but dont download until you click to do so etc, Also check your defrag schedule and change it to manual too and not scheduled.

    5. Check if "superfetch" isnt hogging your HDD, you can disable superfetch in Vista, it can sometimes run for ages in short bursts and cause stuttering, go online for the simple instructions on how to disable SF.

    6. Finally a few more obvious things, side bar gadgets with RSS feeds etc or online updates can cause bursts or stutter, I usually close the sidebar and any other apps not needed before running hungry programs, ensure Itunes isnt minimised, or any other app whilst you play etc etc....

    7. Drivers and software and program updates, there may be a game patch you need or driver update or even rolling back to older drivers may help....

    8. Change your system settings for remote access to unchecked, change error reporting settings to critical only and dont send anything to anyone automatically, check your windows media centre auto checks for codecs and other updates to manual too....

I always MANUALISE (sorry my own english there LOL) my machines from any automation, updates, defrags, scans etc, should minimise if not fully cure any stutters. It may take a little time to do so but the overall result is a system where the HDD light only flashes when you click on something, and the system monitor is showing idle on any activity at all times be it on CPU, ETHERNET, WIRELESS, GPU, and temps stay low too. Just remember to remind yourself to carry out updates and defrags once every 6-8 weeks.

If you still have stutter, check all your system temps, environment, it may then be a possible hardware issue........

Had to state some of the obvious things before you go to the hardware, it is easily curable once you have homed in to what is causing it, which is mainly and always due to a demand or burst of demand of some type or another in or upon the system with or without your knowledge.

If the stuttering is still present then you need to start the process of getting Dell / Alienware Tech Support involved, are you sure your processes in your system monitor are showing 90+ CPU Resources Free on idle....

press "Ctrl - Alt - Del" together once (sorry not implying u do not know just trying to be clear) and click on the "Processes tab" and check what is chewing up resources....as a start, if System Idle is showing 90+% free....check your temps at idle and also under load..... but do get Tech Support involved as part of your snagging process.
