Um... just check anyway? press on stealth mode button and see if its on or not. Take a look at your monitor... when it lights up it means its on, and when it dims it means it's off. Make sure it's dim ( off ) and try running your game / prog again.

It could be a number of different things. Here is a quick checklist:
    - Viruses that may have corrupted your drivers or OS
(If this is the case, back up your data ASAP and do a AlienRespawn)

-Corrupt drivers may also be a result of interrupting windows updates, the previous remedy should fix this

    -Possible hardware failure
(this does not seem likely as it seems you boot into your OS just fine)

    -Call Dell!
(They can remote diagnose your system and, hopefully, be more helpful!)

    Hi ryuzaki,
It is possible to put the laptop into stealth mode without switching to the 9400. Open command center and look under the fusion tab. It will display your current mode.

Screen flashing is normal when you toggle stealth. It is a normal occurance when video switching occurs.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

one service slow down whole system and makes it laggy. in my case it was nvidia display driver service - after i made clean boot it disappeared. maybe your problems are similar - try to make clean install of video drivers. uninstall them, wipe-out all rested parts and install again

    @ryz:

Should be easy to resolve.... need some more info. What video driver do you have installed? What os are you running?

I experenced laggy in Boost Performance mode yersterday not only in games but even in FireFox. I tried all solutions that I can think of, even restoring to a clean Ghost file or reformatting the whole SSD then do a clean install. Then I gave up, turned off my M17x and went to bed crying my eyes out. The next day I boot it up and everything went just fine magically. I really dont know what the heck was happened with my lappy???

I'm not saying this is definite... I certainly hope its not... on my system I have the 9400M G disabled amost 24/7. The only time I enable it is if I know I am going to be unplugging in for an extended amount of time (i.e. Saturday morning coffee @ Starbucks, bouncing between the conference room and desk... etc.).

Perhaps there is an issue with the 9400M G enabled. The few times I have left it enabled for newly released driver testing, etc., I have not noticed an issue. Then again, it only takes say 20 minutes (if even that) to run through my display driver functionality checklist.

Try disabling it for a few days and see how the lappie performs while gaming.

This has happened to me a few times. The laptop appears to be in performance mode, but in actuality it's in Stealth mode. Simple solution:

    Turn off the laptop
    Take out the battery
Hold down the power button for around ten seconds
Put the battery back in and power up

This forces a reset of the system. I still haven't figured out why my laptop does this. At first I thought it was spyware because everything is slow, but that's just because of the 1.6GHz cap on the CPU.

Was this coming out of hibernate, stand-by, or a true prior shutdown?

I have the M17x that came with pre-installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. After the upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium it worked fine for several weeks. Now however, after turning it on and logging in, the CPU usage is all over the place and the RAM slowly creeps up until about a half hour later it reaches around 97% and pretty much freezes everything.

I have an Intel Core Duo CPU T9800 @2.93GHz and 4GB of ram.

If anyone knows whats wrong please point me in the right direction.

Check Task Manager to see which processes is causing problem. Did you kill AlienSense service?

It doesnt make sense when theres no process is acting abnormal. If CPU usage and RAM are being abused then something must be causing problem and I dont think it doesnt show up in Task Manager? No?

my cpu was running at 100% as well, I did a reinstall with the respawn but that didn't help so I had to call tech support and he had me reinstall windows with the windows disk as he said the respawn partition was corrupt. I still have to install all the applications, I was having problems with Nero it won't install properly from the resource cd.
