I just got my M17x today and the touch buttons aren't working well. Is there something I am supposed to download to make them work better?

nope you kinda have to get use to it, until they release a bios update to make them more touch friendly

Aren't they functioning or is it hard to work with, (because they do not react immidiately after pushing so you have to press harder or again). In the last case just get use to it untill a better BIOS indeed.

Unfortunately i do not think it is a bios issue, i think some of the touch button strips are just fualty. Mine doesn't work well either and once i get my lazy butt to do so will be calling dell tech support to get the strip replaced as others have done and has had no issues since.

I have had two complete systems.
On the first one, my buttons sucked. Had to press many times and most times the volume ones did not work.

I reinstalled all the software relating to it, wiped the hard drive, reinstalled the OS and software and no luck.

I got my second M17x and the touch buttons are perfect. I barely have to press them and they all work.. Sometimes I hit the stealth button when moving the notebook on the desk and dont realize i was that close to the button.

I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled the os and drivers the way I wanted and they still work flawlessly.

I conclude that some of the strips are bad. that it isnt software related. More hardware related. I would call and have a replacement media strip sent.

Well, In that case I would call DELL. You paid a lot of money for this machine, so everything has to work. Mine does respond well, although I think it could be a littlebit better.

Mine work easily. You barely even have to touch them to get them to work. If i where you i would call dell about it and see it they will fix it.

ok thanks for the info oh and an update on my touch buttons. I just pressed it REALLY hard because when i was pressing it hard it would make like a sticky sound, but now i just press hard and hold it and the volume will go up and down slowly
