They are not sensitive at all... I have to press several times to raise or lower the volume or do anything else.. any help will be greatly appreciated.

There always seems to be a user like this when a new system comes out. Eventually they'll be ignored.
To actually try to help be patient with the button and make sure your not rushing it when pressing it. Keep your finger there don't tap quickly. If that doesn't help you might have a hardware issue or driver issue. -

Bonbooni may i suggest to post these questions in the Owners lounge instead of making a new thread ? you might get a better and quicker response . Some people ignore new threads for the very reason that many of these questions can be asked elsewhere .

Thank you Quadzilla I will do that.. many thanks

I would be freaking out too... and it is good becuase you are not the only one who has had this problem it is rare, but Clauss also had this problem... it's a good chance for us to come up with a solution.

The OP is not dum, under Vista I've had a few problems with the touch button for sound. It's really annoying but yes there is nothing you can do about it and I strongly believe the problem is Vista not the PC.

In my initial review, I warned about sensitivity issues with the sound countrols. As far as I know, there's nothing wrong with the touch controls themselves, being that all the other buttons are fairly responsive. A new driver/bios will most likely be provided to adjust sensitivity.
Thanks,

Thank you very much GabeZ..

Lool Ok I didn't exactly read your statement all the way through or maybe I interpreted it wrong... I was under the impression it was extremely hard to get working or sometimes wasn't working at all
-
yes they sometimes do not work at all. sometimes work and sometimes take a long and harder press to work
-
This may sound odd, but try putting some lotion on your hands and try again.

Alienware's touch sensitive buttons have always had this issue. Just make sure you hold it until it responds, don't just tap it.
It's a small issue, not a dumb issue -
Thank you very much GabeZ and JWest..

Every time I booted my system or woke it up from sleep, I had to run the "launch.exe" app (found in the program files\alienware or osd folder - can't remember) and that would get the buttons working again.....
-
Thanks for the heads up Sleey0. I forgot about the touch controls dieing after the computer goes to sleep. I usually put mine in stealth mode and close the lid (setting is set to do nothing on lid close)

It's all so complicated. What happened to the days of volume dials and actual media buttons?
-
We're in an era of touch devices......whether they work well or not ... lol. Consequently, every manufacturer has their own idea of how a touch control/screen should be, and how sensitive.

how is the fast forward and rewind work I mean in media player.. I tried the play pause .. works but the fast forward and rewind not
-
Try holding them. Maybe it's a slow fast forward/rewind.

I just made a shortcut on my desktop for the program......

I know sometimes windows randomly says some .exe is not working, and will notify me if it finds a solution. I don't remember this going in time with the button issue, but it is the only lead I have.
