Last night i upgraded my m17x with dual 260m to "186.81_notebook_win7_winvista_64bit_international_whql" from the nvidia site. After it was done installing it restarted the computer and all i got was a black screen although the mouse was still there, clearly video driver issue... Shut down the computer and switched it back on this morning; when it started to boot it showed a message on DOS that said something like "the notebook will start with the integrated graphics to save battery life, if you dont want this, plug in the ac adapter, bla bla bla..." I plugged it in and resumed with boot. Everything displayed correctly in windows but i noticed the 9400m appeared in hwmonitor and not the dual 260m so i thought i could just enable them through the button on the taskbar (the one with 1 or 2 green lines) but it was gone :( Is there another way to enable them? I already did system restore to a point prior to the driver update and since that didnt work i downloaded the latest drivers from dell's site and still i dont get the button on the taskbar.. how can i get it back and enable my 260ms?

    thanks

    Alex

I read in another post that you could switch by hitting fn+f7 and it asked to reboot.. its back! :D

Any display drivers you would recommend so i can leave the stock ones behind?

    thanks

    Hi avillabon,
Unfortunately, the best and most stable drivers for Win 7 are the stock drivers. There are several different modded drivers that users have tried, but none have resulted in fully featured, desired results. I would recommend keeping the drivers you have, assuming they're working ok. If not, I would install the stock drivers. New drivers compatible with Win 7 will be released soon.

    Thanks,
    Gabe
