It's really bad quality. Comes with cyberlink webcam filter which is black and white most of the time and not good quality at all. Anyway to make it cleaner/sharper in quality?

It's probably the best webcam I've seen on a laptop. Works really well with google video chat. How I communicate with the fam back home on holidays. You should be able to adjust the settings, perhaps update your drivers for the webcam

    The heck?

    Perhaps I'm using it wrong?

This is the quality it gives me (pic I just took):

As you can see the lighting is terrible and you can barely make out what the heck is in the picture.

Went to the advanced settings in cybercam, turned everything to default, sharpness max, brightness a bit high, gain a little high.

Razed, you must be doing something wrong. M17x webcam is the best one out there. When I switch from MBP to M17x all people who often have video chat with me asked me how the heck my webcam is so clear :D

i looked into this too when i was having problems with the webcam on my m1530, and from what i found out, the more light in the shot means better frames per second. not sure if it will apply to the M17x webcam or not but trying turning on all lights or adding a desk light too.

Sorry to bump, but I'm having some problems with my webcam. Ironically enough, I'm the guy in that video you posted, but I've since reformatted, thus losing the YouCam software that came with it. I also moved, and I don't have the disc with me (it's back at my parent's house).

Whenever I use Skype, everything is extremely dark in the video, and I don't have any software that will adjust it. Anybody know of free software I can use, or a way to get the OEM software back, or even a way to adjust brightness without webcam software?

Will a desk lamp work? I had no problem with Skype or Yahoo on my M17x? I only needed to turn the lamp on :D And as I mentioned in previous post, people often WOW about my webcam quality.
