I no longer have win 7 on my machine waiting for either the RTM build or the october Release. For me to get the RTM build i'd have to get a technet subscription so i may wait, but when i did have win 7 on my machine and after i did some tweaks my win 7 score was
7.3
7.3
6.1
6.1
7.2
the current generation 280m is holding the thing back, but when the gddr5 versions come out of either the ati or nvidia brands it will be atleast 7+. Either way those scores are really meaningless anyways as it's not a true presentation of someones system -
Which tweaks did you do?
My score on the RC build 7100 (64 bit) is lower:
7.2
7.2 (with Hybrid Graphics disabled in BIOS, 5.9 with Hybrid Graphics enabled in BIOS)
5.9
5.9
5.9
I know they are meaningless, but any tweaks to improve performance wouldn't hurt.
-
well most of my tweaks were related to solid state drives so without that the tweaks i did was meaningless, it's also depends on hardware as you can see in my sig i pretty much got everything maxed out for the M17x
-
OMG WEI like its the bestest
-
have you come to the point where you are just posting to post so your count goes higher and higher?
or is there a higher purpose to your statement i yet to have the understanding of?
-
moo im with you..

so with 4Gb 1333 ram, you got 7.1 ?
i also got 4GB 1333 ram, but i got 5.9, i wonder why
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
You can only go up to 5.9 with vista. Windows 7 allows up to a 7.9 rating.
-
yes window 7, i got 5.9 for the ram.

Oh, odd. Don't sweat it....the windows rating is a joke and should not be taken seriously.
-
yea because i really care about how many post i have
it makes my E-peen grow ... Seriously after all the work i put into this forum you think i care about my post count?
WEI is useless hell i can hack mine to say what ever i want .....It is not reliable or a decent or acceptable means to rate your
CPU -
peace people....stick to topic....thanks.

Although it's 1333MHz rated RAM, I'm running it at 1066MHz at the moment. The lower latencies at 1066MHz make it perform much better from my testing (not just in the WIndows performance index, but I also in games - and I'm talking about a clearly noticeable difference here).
-
i was only joking with you.
-
then why we all get the ram 1333MHZ from dell if 1066MHZ is faster than 1333MHZ ?
order the ram 1066 MHZ will do right ? -
i wonder what is the rate of i7 computer out there ? of coz with window 7.
-
I wonder how many people care?
-
Basically, yes. Of course, they only had 1333MHz RAM for configuration in Europe back when I ordered, so many of us didn't have a choice.
It's off topic, but my Core i7 Desktop (config in the signature below) has the following Windows 7 Windows Experience Index:
7.7
7.8
6.6
6.6
6.0 -
wow, good ! but the M17x still not bad.
-
Running 1333 memory at 1066 will get you the same latency numbers but if you decide to run 1066 at 1333 the latency will be greater with the 1066 memory.
I would also be interested to what games you are testing with.
