It sure does! That's why I'm putting one in!!! With my 250GB HD, the basic score is 5.9, the score of the HD.

I'm so confused how do you have 8800 GTX SLI/Dual in your M17x?

I can't wait till the 5870's make an appearance. Thats what I'm waiting for. I already have the 8GB 1333mhz RAM, two Intel 160GB X25-M's sitting under the bed. Loads of games, a few blu-rays, thermal paste, cryo lx. Just need the laptop now lol.

I have an XFX 5870 XXX Edition in my 435T 9000 and it runs a 7.8 in both graphics reports, the i7 975 Extreme runs a 7.8 and my RAM (12Gb 1066) a 7.6 but even the Patriot Warp 256 SSD doesn't do any better than the 5.9 the 1.5Tb Seagate's run!

I got a 7.8 with the 80gb which is has somewhat slower write times than the 160. I would think your's would at least get that.

Are you running it AHCI? It should be higher than that.

What about the 512G Raid once in alienware m17x? is it still intel? I don't think Intel has any SSD over 160G but I just got my m17x arrived and the HD Tune shows that it's the Intel Raid 0 Volume 512GB SSD

Yah that doesn't make sense considering the highest could be 320gb with current models

Just got it running and did not check to see if that is how BIOS is set, love the ease of use Acronis 10 Home Edition works, was able to get both the 435T 9000 and the M17x cloned and running in under 35 minutes.

That is a Patriot Warp and not the fantastic Torx, I don't believe the Warp holds a candle to the Torx either in run ability or read/write ratings.

Intel doesn't offer anything at the moment over 160GB, What comes with the Alienware computers is Samsung 256GB SSD's. Just be aware that there is no trim support for SSD's operating in RAID format. Thus explaining the cause for slow downs and decreased performance in the system after a while.

Did you upgrade from the xxxa firmware to xxxd?

Those speeds are similar to my 80gb, and I know for a fact that the latest update increased the 160 write times.

How much are you really going to be writing when your drive is only like 100 something. I mean 75mb write speeds is fine. It's all about the read, IMO

That's true, but if you are doing a lot of video/photo editing the extra 25mb will make a difference.

Edit: Have you downloaded inlet's took box? You should be running trim maintenance weekly...

You can always secure erase the disk with HDDerase v3.3 to restore it to factory performance (or use linux like I did on my X25-E) because it droped by 15MB/s on write speeds after that kind of abuse.
