After half an hour of Crysis, HWMonitor shows a max temp. of 104*C for my GTX 260. Um, what?

Anyone have any idea why this could be happening? As far as I'm aware the fan's fine. At least, it still sounds just like it did. Everything's well ventilated and what-not.

In comparison, I usually don't get temps of over 65*C.

    Running Forceware 197.16

Sounds like no more Crysis for you. You have a heat disapation issue. Since your fans seem to be working I would believe that your issue lies where the heatsink and GPU meet. I would start by taking it apart (if your comfortable doing so) and replacing the thermal paste. Leave the thermal pads where they are. If that isn't an option I would call Dell. I would hesitate from playing Crysis anymore until it's resolved or you can damage the card at those temps if they are sustained for extended periods of time.

Is there anything in your system that has been changed? BIOS, Drivers? I would roll back to older drivers if that is when the temps increased.

Just clean your M17x, drop your backplate and clean the fan.

I'll be cleaning the fan when I get home at the weekend. I'm in college at the moment and don't have a screwdriver. (as stupid as that sounds)

I'll give it another go when I get that done. If that doesn't work I'll reseat the HS/F assembly. Failing that, it'll be a call to Dell.

Already tried rolling back drivers; didn't do anything, unfortunately.

Looks like dust to me. Just clean the vents and grills, and you should be fine.
