I ran the the diagnostics on my M17x-R2 and got two errors; I wonder if these are normal or are indicative of a real problem. My BIOS is A01 for the M17x-R2 btw:

MSG: Error Cpde 0146 - hard Drive 0 - Self Test Log contains previous error(s)

MSG: Error Code 0322 - LCD Panel - Unable to modify brightness

The first to me sounds like nothing more than a dump file of some kind is present, and the second sounds like it might be just a side effect of the new RGB screens instead of the original ones.

Can anyone with an M17x-R2 and RGB LED run your diagnostics (F12 to go into it) from boot and see if you get the same errors? I suspect they are nothing to worry about, Dell is "threatening" to send a technician to replace the screen and drive

I am not convinced this is anything to get worked up about yet...

If your system works fine, who cares? I don't even have that diagnostic partition on my HDD. It's a waste of time. Just enjoy the system now that you finally have it.

Hey Joker, this was actually the F12-diagnostics. I had to explain to the techs this was almost certainly to be expected with the RGB LED vs their older diagnostics and a notice about HDD messages... :p
