I have been a Mac user for my notebook needs for the last 5 years or so. Been a problem free expirance but I need more power. So I am thinking of the M17x-R2.

Am I right to assume that once the Mobile 5870's come out I will be able to purchase 2 and replace the 4870's that come in the M17x-R2?

Is it as simple as installing a PC graphics card? meaning Standard Slot? the size of the card will fit in my notbook no issues and the power requirements will be good to go?

Or will there have to be modding, tweaking, over/undervolting etc to support?

It will require a BIOS update to run the cards.

Ok easy enough. Is this something Dell/Alienware will release? Or will it be some kinda homebrew Bios to make it happen?

They'll most likely make it. Unless they bring out a R3 which i doubt; they wouldn't bring out the R3 so soon after the R2, so yes they will probably just release the BIOS update when they release them.

Who knows if the R2 will even need a bios update. The 4870/5870 aren't very different. But we all know a bios update is coming for sure so I'm betting it will have the necessary additions for a 5870. If my replacement order isn't upgraded with the 5870s, I'll buy 2 of them from RJTech.

Depend on ur info. If the New Bois does not contain any info to 5870s, then we probably won't see the 5870s in R2 any time soon. Am i right?

I don't even see the 4870s on rjtech, in fact they only have Nvidia cards, whats to say they will even sell the 5870s?

5870 is dx11 capable, no way you can just plug n play without some kind of firmware update. Unless Dell somehow got a hold of all the early codes and wrote r2 software accordingly somehow.
