    Hey all.
As most of you know there is a known flickering issue with the new machines.
Until yesterday we all thought that it was only and issue with the i7-920qm procs, but now, when we have at least one case of a i7-820qm machine with flickering and a case of i7-920qm that does not flicker i thought it'd be a good idea to make a thread that actually counts those cases.

5150Joker suggested i'd wait until tomorrow to do it (since tomorrow AW are supposed to give him their findings after investigating his lappy in their labs) but i can't wait.
ME WANTS STATS NOW :) :)

Each of the members that wants to participate, please do the following (thanks for the procedure 5150Joker) :
    1. Download furmark 1.8 here
    2. Set it for : stability test, xtreme burn, post process, diffuse(?) mapping, 1280x1024 resolution.
    3. If you're really daring, run Prime 95 (small TFTs) simultaneously for the ultimate stability test
    4. Run for 10 minutes
    5. Choose your poll answer according to your CPU.

Also, i'd like to ask all of the voters to detail their exact configuration. This way it will be easier to extrapolate the exact components that are causing the issue.

I am really hoping this thread will become useless tomorrow with AW answer.

    BTW, it's a 920 XM. ;)

I don't have to run the test since I see it in gaming.

    i7-920XM
    4GB 1333 HyperX, 4GB 1333 Elpida, 4GB 1066 Elpida (all tested)
Intel 160GB SSD, 320GB 7200RPM WD (both tested)
    4870XF
    Intel 6300
    RGBLED
Space Black (does that count? ;))

weird question: Does everybody with problems/no problems have the same bios version? (I mean all m17xR2 with the same configuration should have the same bios version, right, but do they?)

Yeah i was wondering if daniel.murphy4 maybe had a new bios on his machine ?...

Daniel did you run Furmark to check or are you just saying you dont have flickering because you have not run a game that has caused any issues(yet) ?...

I know Witcher said not all games will cause it so thats why Furmark is probably the quickest path to the truth....

    Yep.

I heard the black chassis weren't anodized right at the factory and it's causing some grounding issues.

Is a long shot, but anything is possible.

I will be running the furmark test once it arrives. It was shipped today. I wanna lay this issue to rest already (at least for my config).

Just curious, but why the LOL? Anodizing could certainly impact grounding. Anodization makes a ceramic coating and ceramics as you know (or should since you felt the need to comment :) ) are not electrically conductive...If they anodized something that wasn't supposed to be anodized, like an interior surface, or screw holes, etc. they could have impacted the grounding of the system.

You poll is seriously flawed my man...

Where is the option for "ordered before everyone else and got jacked by Dell waiting but would settle for flickering on ANY CPU at this point" - LOL

If nothing else these results will help us pass the time while waiting...

And as of right now, we have some people with the flickering with the 720 and 820... do we have any i5 owners that can contribute? curious to see if we can narrow the playing field as to whats causing this.

Im honestly not worried about it having flickering .... They are working on a fix and we know its not just a bunch of bull since they picked up Jokers machine directly.... And if they dont address the issue its going to back to HQ for a refund...

Well, the only person that picked the option of flickering with 720's most likely doesn't even have an R2. At least from a glance at his post history it appears he just picked the option as a mistake or to be clever.

I haven't read of anyone else reporting issues.

Yeah thats why i did not comment on Homebrewr voting in the poll... Not the first time someone voted just because they thought it would be funny  ...

I see some people panicked that even 720s had flickering based on someone who does not even own the machine...

Moo has tested his bigtime and had 0 issues thats why im not worried in the least bit....

i kinda figured we would have at least one knucklehead...

anyway... did those with the i5 (if anyone even has one) get a different psu? if they did get a lower power psu, we should theoretically be able to simulate it with them as well.

Sleey0, did you receive yours yet? or did you cancel? I thought i read that you were getting the i5.

What quad said, you get CF you get bigger psu.

I will burn the heck out of it when it gets here with both the i5 and i7-620 ;)

Hey, what you guys have done so far?
Any contacts with Dell? Waiting for Joker's laptop analises?
If contacted Dell, what they're saying?

My issues are more than just the flickering.
    Here we go:

1 - Flickering on every single game, the whole screen and constant without stopping.
2 - Unplugging the power cord makes the computer freeze.
3 - Putting the system to sleep, makes it freeze aswell, it wont wake up.
4 - Keyboard have 3 keys, the "S", "F" and "J", that are not working good, I have to hit them harder to get them to work. Playing shooter games is a pain in the because of the "S", sometimes I am holding the "S" to move my character back and it stands like I'm doing nothing.

    It's so annoying.
