I checked, and they haven't sent me whatever's needed for a second HDD. I remember seeing posts about it on the forum, and someone saying you need 3 different pieces for it, I can't find the post again, and I would like to know the exact 3 components needed before calling Dellienware. Anyone can help me plz ?

That thread should have all the info you need, but might be hard to find since it's so long.

The 3 parts you need are the cradle, interposer, and screws. I think I remember it being called the TRDD2 kit. Not 100% sure that the parts will be the same for the R2, but I'm assuming they are.

The rep I spoke to sent me all the right stuff after asking for the 'equipment necessary for installing a second hard drive', but it couldn't hurt to be more specific.

so when you get the computer, it isn't already setup to take a second hard drive? You had to already purchase it with one or request the components?

Or do you have a "unique" situation? I'm getting an m17x as a replacement for a defunct m1730. Went out and bought two hard drives to put in it when it gets here...

Right. Unless you order it with two drives, you won't get the parts to install a second one. Frustrating, but if you call Dell you can get the parts for free and it'll only take a couple days.

Wow. Alright, thanks for the heads up!! The m1730 had a little cage (for lack of a better term) that was inside that could accomodate the two drives. You just needed to get the drive and some screws and you were good to go.

The caddy, interposer and screws shipped with the R1 after a while, I don't think the R2 has them. But yea, thats what you need. Going to have to call dell on that one.

Call Alienware, not Dell if you want a quick and satisfactory resolution.

    1-800-ALIENWARE

    Option 4, then Option 3

Give the rep your service tag and inform them that your new laptop shipped without the secondary HDD caddy and interposer kit. They will very likely know exactly what you are asking for and will send one out immediately.

There should be no charge for this unless you require unusual shipping.
