Just recently I started getting the blue screen of death on my m17x whenever I hibernate or sleep.. I havent installed any new software or hardware so i dont know what can be causing the problem here. Any ideas?

Its very frustrating.. ive restarted several times and the issue persists.. ideas?

It would help if you provide some details on what kind of soft/hardware did you install.
Are you using hybrid? What BIOS version?
But generally, I'd suspect drivers. Try using the 186.82 with 9400 disabled in BIOS or maybe the newer ones - 195.62/81.

thats the strange thing.. like i said before, no new software and/or hardware... the bios is the stock one.

What do you mean by hybrid?

how can i check my current video driver version? i wouldnt want to disable the 9400, i use it when on power saver..

I dont understand what happened... everything was working perfectly..

    1. Start -> Right click on Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager -> display adapters -> pick one of your GPUs , right click ->properties -> driver details -> what version number?
Since you are on Vista for quite some time, I assume you have either 179.85 or the later 186.40/XX?
If you want to use both the GPUs and the 9400, you might just need to reinstall your current driver as it was working fine till now.
Hopefully BatBoy can advise you something as he was experimenting a lot with Vista drivers.

You are using the 186.82 and it's one of the best drivers for the system, though it's best to keep the integrated card disabled in BIOS with this one. Maybe that's why you have the issue.

This is the driver I used by default and had no issues with it with the 9400 enabled.
I don't know if anyone on this forum still keeps the 9400 enabled, but unless they come and tell us the best driver option in this case, I suggest reverting to the one in the link.
    Worth a shot anyway.
    The order for the installation:
    1. Uninstall the current driver from the device manager, tick the 'remove the driver software' option.
    2. Reboot into safe mode and run CCleaner .
    3. Reboot and let windows install the default driver.
4, Reboot and install the new driver.
    5. Reboot and see if it helps.
If not, you can try different drivers (maybe the 195.62 found on Nvidia website) following the same order.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck!

Did this resolve the issue you were seeing avilla? Also, dont forget to update your SLI profiles - see my post here, look for " Once this is done and the driver is installed," towards the bottom of the post for the link to the updater.

    This is what's going on..

I decided to try something else first. I went ahead and checked my last installed softwares and the last one was "manycam" which emulates your video feed from the webcam so you can record multiple instances of it.

Once I uninstalled, two things happened.

    1. Hibernation's problem went away.
    2. Now the system thinks there is no webcam. :S

A few days later hibernation crashed again. Since then i havent been able to do anymore tests because i've been to busy but hopefully ill try again this week. At this point im more concerned about the webcam than the hibernation issue because i do a lot of video conferencing.

I posted a thread about that issue here
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=461944
But i still havent gotten an answer...

What are your thoughts on this? How are these to issue connected? Do the webcam and video cards share part of the drivers?

Thanks for the link to the sli profiles update! Ill follow the steps once everything is working again.

Interesting development... Now hibernation and sleep work flawlessly, i've tested both many times with no issues. However, webcam is still down. Where can i find the driver?

I reinstalled the drivers and when i boot i can see the webcam sacnning my face on the login screen which means it is now working, but it is still missing from windows.. Any software like skype or camtasia thinks that there is no camera in the computer. So frustrating!!!
