    hi bros.
    I just got M7700, blue , D900K
    AMD 4800+
    7800 GeForce
    2 gb RAM

Now i want to upgrade RAM, but i still confuse. Because in some review, I saw that it only can upgrade maximum of 2Gb RAM.
But in some others, it seems that this one can do more than 2gb RAM.

Please help me, can i upgrade to more than 2gb ram for this one.

    thank you

The D900K has only two memory slots, so the maximum memory capacity is 2 Gb (2 x 1GB) PC3200 memory

The D900T has four memory slots and can support 4gb of memory, although 3Gb are the maximum supported by the D900T chipset

    doesn't that suck.

I also have a D900K... and wish I could get more than 2GB of RAM in it.

Oh well.... it still does everything I want it to do for over 3 years now. :)

As for TV Tuners, you can get an external USB one which should work fine and support ATSC (off-air HD) or get an internal one (mini-PCI) that can support Cable TV... but no real ATSC support since mini-PCI cards are phased out.

    hi bros.
yeah, exactly it does everything well now even if only 2gb ram.
could you tell me more detail about TV card?
now i have internal AVer media TV card, i installed well and it seems it can work.
but i don't know which cable now i need to hood up?
Can i use the digital cable for my TV in my room to hook up with this TV card?

ALso, do u have conflict between AV TV card with webcam inside laptop? I seem have issue since i install that AV card, the webcam doesn't work in Skype or Yahoo video chat now.

    thanks bro
to be honest, I never ever use anything like Avermedia TV card, therefore, I need detail instructions about device, cable, software (name, part) which can hep you get the signal works fine. Because i tried to search online but failed to get the right answer.

also, i installed driver for the card, and it showed on the Device manager that all are ok.

but the program can not get signal, because now i don't know which cable, which thing to connect with my laptop to get signal.

I even if don't know anything about off-air.

thank you and hope you can help me treat this well.

    thanks bro.
i tried to read again and again the manual for TV Mini card, but absolutely they don't show much about the way to get that card work well. That's general information and it is not enough for really newbie like me.

if you can help me this, i really appreciate that, as you work with that one and has much experience than a new owner of M7700 like me.

    thank you

    1) Install the AverMedia software.

    2) connect the small coaxial(male)-RCA(male) adapter to the yellow port of the TV tuner on the back of the notebook (next to the modem/LAN jacks)

    3) connect your Cable line to the coaxial adapter that you just connected to the notebook

    4) use AverTV application that was installed

    5) in the Settings/Configuration of the program, set it to Cable (not antenna)

    6) then do a Channel Scan

    7) now enjoy watching
...and use the remote if you have it (will need to use the QuickTV app for this)

u are great. it works now.
even if the cable in my house is much different with that jack, but i cut them and connect them together.
    well. very well now.
but it seems that the quality is not good as when i use my TV, it has noise more than my TV. Is that normal?

good news, even if i can not get the very clear quality as my TV, but now my laptop can work through Antenna. The same quality as it takes from my cable in my room.

i cut out the antenna for my DVD player from my DVD player in my car, then connect to my laptop. well, it works well now.

    thanks bro so much

I've got one of the [M102] AverMedia Mini PCI TV Tuner in my Area51-7700 as well. Mine works fine if I connect to it with coax, but I was wondering if there is a way that I can just connect the yellow rca video cable to the tuner? I tried it last night and couldn't get a picture. What I'm trying to do is connect my playstation2 to my laptop without having to use a modulator box to convert the rca to coax. I successfully ran my audio through my line in.

    Any help would be appreciated.

i also tried that, only connect the small jack video cable RCA to my tuner, and it worked, but the quality of the picture is bad.

For me,only cable or the other antenna that i had from my DVD player in my car will get the good signal and video. It means that I now can bring my laptop with that small antenna to go everywhere and it seems i can get signal ok. I will notice about the result outdoor some days.

I don't play Station 2 though laptop like that. No idea

Did you have to set in special settings to get it to work? All I had gotten was a black screen. Also is there any other program that you use with the card? I'm just using what Alienware sent.

to work with cable, i have no setting. it works for both Antenna and CATV setting in program.

to work with my external antenna, i work in Antenna setting, and the signal is about 95/100 vs. signal from the cable, not bad at all.

i am using the program: AVerTV 303P v5.2.0.21a

u can find out and download very easy on internet. this program also installed the driver for my Avermedia card, so i did not need to find out the driver for that one.

Thanks, I'm not sure if that is what I'm currently using, but I'll look for it when I get home from work.
