    Hello

I sold my M7700, but coud not resist, and bought another one. I kinda like these old workhorses. And they still have better sound then any other laptop out there.
So I just installed Vista x64 on it, wich was not easy becouse of the absence of the SATA / Raid driver. I got everything working, except the webcam ( ALI M5603c ), Tv tuner, and Modem. I've tried like 20-20 different drivers. It was a lot easyer making the M9750 x64. :) If anybody menaged to work this out, please tell me.

The other problem is worse. The laptop works as it should when plugged in. But when I take the cord out, it dies immedietly. I tested with 3 different batterys, and it is the same. When I turn it on, the middle light is orange. After an hour it becomes green, as it should. The tray icon always indicates that the battery is 99%, it is present, but the system uses the charger. I took out the battery while running, and it immedietly showed that the battery is not present.
All these are pretty strange. Anybody with anykind of solution?

Sounds like you have a defective charging circuit on your D900T/K motherboard. If that is happening with numerous batteries, it can only be the motherboard causing the problem.

Do this for me, shut the system off and grab a voltmeter.
set the meter to the resistance mode. (The setting where the meter beeps if the same path is made)
I have a board lying a few feet from me which has a working charging circuit. If you want I can test it for you.
None of the 9 or however many pins the battery runs should be connected.
I.E. if you plug one prong of the meter to one of the pins which goes to the battery, and the other prong to the pin next to it, the meter should not beep.

If the meter beeps let me know and I can verify if it happens on my motherboard.
If worse comes to worse there is a loose screw or something on the motherboard which shorted the charging circuit. Chances are it is fixable.

My red monster is actually doing okay. 138 hours of no problems. I am going to contact AMD to see if they can give me a grant for the project. If they dont, I think I am going to sell it complete and see what I can get for it. I just dont use it much at all anymore. It seems to be working good though now. Considering it has a fresh everything.
Only flaw is the screen has a small scratch and their is a small flaw in the paint I need to get fixed.

I have mesured everything, and my voltmeter doesn't beep, it shows 0000 when there is a short. It showed this when putting it to the first and the second pin, from the audio outs. But I have another mobo home, wich doesn't see the hard drives, and mesured everything on that, and it was the same. I'll take the system apart tomorrow when I'll have time.
Btw, you haven't tried to install Vista x64 on yours? It's much faster then the x86, even with the P4 Prescott 2M 3.2.

I haven't tried any flavor of Vista in over 2 years. It was not my operating system. I am an XP guy

I packed my motherboards away last night because I am going home tomorrow. I will let you know what mine reads.

    Edit:
    Two things you can check

    1) make sure the AC power port is connected to the motherboard properly. It is connected by 4 main leads
    2) use your voltmeter and see if any voltage is coming out of the socket while the system is on.
It is safe to do this as long as you do not short anything.
I think 14.8 volts comes out of the right most pins on the charging socket
