Greetings to everyone
This is my first post. I want to ask the professionals about something.
I just bought an M7700 on ebay, with a lot of extras: TV-tuner, 320 GB HDD, 2GB Ram...
My question is, that can I upgrade the graphics card? It has the Nvidia Geforce Go 6800 256MB card. The mashine is I think the Clevo D900T. Can I put an 512MB card in it? Was this available from the factory? If yes, wich graphics card is the right one?
Thank you
PS. You have a nice community here![]()

i think you can put in a 7800 0r 7900 with 512mb, yeah. not positive though.
i daresay Gophn will bring insight within minutes -
You might be, but you need to know the motehrboard revision. If yours is a D900T, you will need revision 6.1 motherboard or newer to run the 7900mGTX, 7950mGTX, or the Quadro FX2500m.
Your board may be revision 5.1 because of the 6800ultra, so you may not be able to upgrade the graphics card.
The revision of the motherboard is on a sticker on one of the memory slots.
Let us know what the sticker says : (EX: "V5.1")
By the way, the d900t can only use single core processors up to 3.8Ghz, so dont attempt to upgrade to a core 2 duo, its not going to work

Thank you guys.

I've been reading this forum all day, and now I know a bit more. I know that I have to have a 220 W power adaptor. But somwhere you wrote, that the 4.0 version motherboard is the wrong one for the 7950GTX, and from 5.1 it's good. Or the Alienware systems differ from other Clevos?
I can't look at the motherboard, couse my laptop is still somwhere in the US, and I'm somewhere in Europe
But I'll get back.
Congrats again on the paint on your Voodoo. -

What's the difference? I'm learning now -
The D900K supports the AMD single core and dual core processors up to the AMD FX60 and Opteron 185
The D900T supports Pentium 4 based socket 775 single core processors up to the 3.8Ghz P4.
The D900K with a dual core has more than 2 x the processing power of the 3.8Ghz P4.
The d900t and d900k chassis look the same, but they use slightly different motherboards, different cpu's, different raid controllers, and different memory.
The D900T uses ddr2 memory and supports up to 4gb (4 x 1Gb) of it, while the D900K only has 2 memory slots supporting up to 2GB (2 x 1GB) of Pc3200 DDR memory.
Both use the same graphics cards

^^ K-Tron knows his stuff.
The D900T and D900K share the same Clevo proprietary videocard modules.
- the top card being Nvidia 7950 Go GTX -
Thanks.
My M7700 has almoast the top specs, with the p4 3.6 HT. So I hope it will be a 6.1 motherboard.
But I was looking for a 7950GTX, and found only one for $550. I think that's harsh, considering that the new M9750 has an 512 GPU, and the whole system costs $1400 as new...
But I'll keep looking for one with hopes to find it around 300.
Waht do you think, will the TV tuner work in Europe? The whole NTSC vs. PAL thing.
I'm getting excited, finally I can throw out my Toshiba Satellite with the ****ty ATI integrated GPU. -
Someone on here (not me as I don't have a verified paypal account). MIGHT be able to call AW and tell them that they want to upgrade their M9750 from 8700GT's to 7950GTX's (yes it is an upgrade
). Then they just say they want to keep both 8700GT's and then they pay $XXX for the 7950GTX and sell it to you. MIGHT be cheaper if it actually works. When AW build my laptop they needed to give me 8700GT's though because they were out of 7950GTX's.

Thank you Stone. I'll try everything, when I find out what kind of motherboard I have. But I think that the M9750's 7950GTX won't work in the M7700 couse newer AW-s have MXM ports.

The video modules for the d900t are only interchangeable with the d900k. No other system uses the same graphics cards.
My friend KingHong is selling his 7950GTX for his D900K, and for a good price, so you may want to look into that.
