Ok guys wondering if you could shed some light on this one. Recently after upgrading to windows 7 last week i've shut down my m9750 waited for it to shut completely off (power light is off). Then closed the lid and left it, then upon coming back later (doesnt always happen) i find the machine is powered up again.
What could be causing this strange behaviour?
I've already checked and confirmed that it isnt Blue Screening on shut down and then rebooting as the machine powers off completely, i've had exactly the same behaviour after hibernating the machine also.

Can you go back to XP and see if it still happens? It might be a BIOS problem, as there are different BIOS for Vista and XP. Otherwise, start unpluguing it and taking out the battery once you turn it off (could even be a faulty battery; already replaced mine).

my M17 did that one time , try flashing to the vista BIOS

if that doesnt work , shut it down and leave it open and see if it does the same thing

Should've said earlier, it came with vista originally and I never bothered flashing the XP BIOS on it, so it still has the vista bios :)
I dont have the time to go back to XP on this since everything works other than this occassional occurence.
I'll try your suggestion moo about leaving it open next time I shut it down.
