Ok all you hardware guru's out there .. time to pick your brain on this puppy ... Reciently I moved to a new area and along came my laptop with me.. for the past week or so, I've noticed that my cube was getting a lil hot and found out that the back of my 9750 (where the fan outlets are) where blowing out hot air ... Now I know this is not uncommon and its the way to cool off the vid cards (i'm configured with x2 - 7950 GTX's in SLI mode) but to me the heat was just a little too hot and kinda made me wonder about the GPU temps.... So I brought up my Nvidia Control Panel hoping to find the window which showed all that info ... but of course with my Charlie Brown luck, no window... So doing a lil research I went to Nvidia's site and dloaded the NTune program .. fired up the contol panel and still no tab!.... so now that the contol panel has beat me down, I resorted to a 3rd party program Hardware Sensor Monitor which told me that my GPU's are running in the 160'F mark .. So the question to you guys that own these laptops, is this normal or should I look to do some PM's on it... Last time I took off the back to replace RAM there was no dust-bunnies floating around the fans .... Also any programs that you know of that can monitor/control the GPU fans let me know.. sorry for the long post, just want to give all info ... Tks. .

Base your temps on Celcius not Farenheit as thats what everyone does around here .
So anything under 90C is perfectly fine while play games as the GPUs are rated for around 100c .
Idle temps should be in the 50s to 60s could be abit lower or higher depending on ambient temp and what surface you have your machine on. -
Quad -- Thanks
GPU1 - 75'C
GPU2 - 73'C
Same desk as before only difference is that i'm not in a 'lab' envirnoment where it was much cooler... -
If those are idle temps i would be a bit concerned .
You may want to look into re applying thermal paste to them if you have already cleaned out the vents .
Make sure even though the fans look clean that the Radiators dont have tons of dust in them as well. Grab some compressed air and blast away.
Grab some OCZ freeze or Arctic Silver 5 which ever you prefer and re do it though if its something you feel comfortable doing yourself. -
You can download HWMonitor or RivaTuner to monitor your GPU temps. Both programs are free. 71C (160F) is on the hot side for GPU idle temps. So you need to find out what your peak GPU temps during gaming or other stress applications to make sure they don't exceed the maximum safe temps for the 7950gtx. You can run HWMonitor in the background while gaming and it will record the maximum temps for you.

Tks for the tips guys... I was able to get my temps down a lil by replacing the old therm paste with some Artic Silver .... on top of that, I just bought a laptop fan at NewEgg -> NB ACC ROSEWILL RNA-7600W COOLER which roxs!!! I'd recommend this fan above all others.. Now I'll see how this puppy does during the Aion beta....
