Hey guys, just joined the forum a day ago or so. Alot of great information on here. I'm pretty happy with my M9750 except for one small problem. For some reason my wireless seems to cut out and give me "limited connectivity" and goes to local only. Also the skull light stopped working for some reason. Has anyone had these issues yet? If so what did you do to correct them? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm not sure about your wireless connection, but try pressing FN + F11 and see if your alien head lights up.

Nice, FN+F10 worked for the alien head light, FN+F11 turned on a light above the internet explorer hot key. I wonder what that does. Thanks!

The blue light above the IE icon means that the touch-acvtivated icons to the right of it are toggled off. Blue light off means they are back on.
I've had my 9750 for 4 months and love it. I hope neither of us have any of the problems lots of people complain about here.
How's are you liking yours? -
Ohh gotcha. Thats pretty cool I accidently hit those buttons alot so that will come in handy. I'm loving mine, the wireless issue is really getting to me. Luckily I have a spare ethernet cord and my desk isn't too far from my router. But I would still love to be able to lounge in my living room etc. Games so far run really well on it. I should have gone the dual video card option though. I can still run everything though. Bioshock runs at max settings, same with oblivion. I'm actually getting pretty decent battery life out of this thing as well. I'm averaging about 2 hours with medium brightness. Pretty good for a 17" My friends XPS M1730 lasts like 45-60 minutes if he is lucky. Haven't tried running any games on battery yet, I'm sure that will drop it down alot, but I'm never really unplugged anyways.

Maybe you need to try new drivers or try resetting your router? That fixes it for my comp when I get limited connectivity.

Hi Cerath,
A lot of things can affect a wireless network. Do you have a cordless phone in the house by chance? If it's a 2.8, you can count on it killing the network every time. Also, if you have an actiontec modem, it tends to overheat when the wireless portion is turned on. If all else fails, you might want to try updating the firmware on your modem or router. Does it connect to other wireless networks fine (coffee houses, airport, friend's network)?

P.S. - If you turn on wireless and use the cat5 at the same time, the networks often fight. You want to use one or the other. Turn off wireless when your on the cat5. -
try updating to the latest wireless driver from the alienware site under the support section. it makes a huge difference believe me, i had the same problem and now its working perfectly

Cerath,
Please PM me with your account number and I will assist you on this matter. -
If you haven't already, update to vista SP1...I hear that helps with a number of wireless connectivity issues.
-
try using the intel pro wireless application (assuming you are) rather than letting windows handle your wireless adapter. sometimes that works for me.
-
Yeah I have tried both the drivers from alienware and the intel website and they both give me the same problem. Also I don't have any cordless phones in the house and both my other computers don't have any problems staying connected =\ (one is XP SP2 and the other is Vista SP1) I've also used it at a friends house and it does the same thing.

try to call alien help and have a look on wireless card connection : http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=2842538#post2842538 -
Ok called Alienware, they had me pull off my keyboard and check the card. Everything on it was fine so they are sending me a replacement. Hopefully that will solve the issue.
