    Hi,
A while ago I had windows xp media center and it works great and then I installed Windows Vista 64-bit and it was working great for a while I was able to play crysis on most high settings but then I installed 3dmark06 and Company Of Heroes and all of the sudden my performance dropped a lot I ran 3dmark06 and it did not even get over 5000 marks when I get 8700-9506 3dmarks on XP.I do have SLI enabled. what also was interesting was that my CPU score was only 899 points when it should be getting around 2000 and the graphic scores were very low compared to what they normally are. So does anyone have any thoughts about what may be happening it would be greatly appreciated.

I think Vista isn't taking advantage of your Dual Core CPU because your score should be pretty much double what you are getting which would hint at Vista64 only using 1 core for some reason.

yeah I have the side bar thing that shows both cores and it seems like core 1 is usually a lot higher than core 2 but it was working great before.

Vista 32/64 uses alot of memory and such. And your computer not setup for vista 64. If I was you I would setup as a dual boot. Due to the fact software has not pass 32 bit. That will take 8 more years. Then 15 years to be solid.

Amd was thinking 64 bit would be solid by now. But they did not look at past from 16 bit to 32 bit which took 10 years and another 5 years to be solid.

They where looking at hardware and not the software. Witch leave a fault Soft ware take longer to program to a new setup.

If you look at mirosoft 16 bit win 3.1 OS. Then Mirosoft 85. Which had both 16 bit and 32 bit. Then windows 98 was mostly 32 bit.

What I say hardware is faster then software. Programers just take so dang long.

@Atol - With windows vista 64, they actually have great backwards compatibility with 32 bit software. However, the drivers are the main issue, not the software. However, it is interesting to note that the 64 bit version of UT2004 was actually in some cases slower than the 32 bit version most likely because of the poor development of it.

In addition, if you choose to go the 64 bit route, it will be a pain. For example, if you get a 64bit firefox explorer, then everthing in it has to be 64 bit. All the plugins have to be 64 bit, which means java and flash won't work. I would just stay away from 64 bit unless you are using a specific program.

Cpt.Derrek proves my 2 points, XP is better atleast for that machine, the second one is the M9750 can break the 9k barrier easily ^^

why would you put a 64bit operating system on a computer whos motherboard can only read 2.5GB of ram ? I don't see the logic.

@Derrek - Just don't use a 64bit OS. It does not make any sense on the M9750 because of the ram limitation.

Check your Vista power profile. Set it to Maximum performance

Its probably set to Balanced or Power Saver

I have everything on high performance, I never mess with that since I cannot do anything while on my battery.

The smartest idea is to read on mirosoft website and Mirosoft user groups that are running vista 64 bit.

If I could get windows Vista 64. I still would do a dual boot. I would install windows vista 64 frist and then vista 32 bit. So if I wanted to play with Vista 64 I can change OS at start up. That will make Vista 32 bit as a Main OS. So you have a Stable OS and one that might not be stable.
