Ok well since my M9750 is in for repair (again), am wondering how much of an upgrade the M17 would be from it.
Would be thinking of getting the 1920x1200 Screen, Dual 3870's, Intel 5300 Wireless and everything else stock. Any views on how good an upgrade this would be/anyone's opinions who has gone from the m9750 up to the m17 would be appreciated![]()

I have both rigs you mention as you can see in my sig.
As long as you go with a pretty fast CPU you'll enjoy a huge jump in performance.
I say as long as you go with a pretty fast CPU because the 3870's are very CPU dependent.
With the M17 and 64bit OS you'll be able to use more ram as well.
The M17 is like the M9750 accept more.
Newer Montevina platform.
DDR3 memory.
ATI 3870's
Extreme proc. options including Quad support.
Possibility of upgrading GPU's.
If you have the WUXGA screen on your M9750 you will want the same on the M17. I ordered my M17 with the lower res screen and was very disappointed.
It's really night and day between the two.
In my case, I switched the screen between the two and posted a "how-to" on changing these screens.
Tech support told me this would void my warranty so if I have to send it in I'll change screens first.
The change worked perfectly and I'm very happy.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hmm, just read in another thread that the UK Keyboard is different on the M17 (Long left Shift Key), is this only with the illuminated one?
Rob - I have got the WUXGA atm and will be getting the same again -
my only regret is not waiting another month until i could get one of the extreme CPU's
However eBay will be beckoning later in the year for a repalcement i think -
