    Hey, I've read a number of reports on these boards of people having problems with their m9750. Particularly video card issues. I've been having the same problems with mine. When I turned the computer on, it would just give me a black screen, but I could hear the vista sounds telling me the computer is actually booting properly. Just couldn't see anything, and sometimes my computer would completely just lock up entirely and there would be nothing I could do aside from a hard restart.

    So I called up Alienware the first time, and they told me to reseat the graphics cards and I did it. Seemed to fix it for a couple days, but the problem came back again.

    So I called them up again, and they tell me it's a problem with one of my video cards... alright, which one? Well they tell me to take out my parent video card (i dont know why the secondary card is called the parent... but whatever) and try turning my laptop on, so I do it, and everything seems to be working again. So they say, well theres no need to test the other one. We're sure this is the problem. We'll just send you out a new one as soon as you send yours back to us... So I do it...

    A few weeks later, the card comes, put it in, and everything is working smoothly for about a few days or so... then the problem starts out again, small at first, but it got to the point where I could only use my computer for about 45 minutes before it froze on me, and i would have to try turning it on about 10-15 times before I could finally see anything on the screen.

    So I call Alienware up a third time, they say... Oh no, our mistake I guess. We should have replaced the other card. We'll send you one right away as soon as you send us your card back. This time I just say screw it... i'm going to send you my whole computer back and you guys dont give it back to me until it's in working condition. So I sent it back to them a little over a week ago, and just got it back about an hour ago.

    The computer turned on fine, and I'm just about to start stress testing it... but what I couldn't believe, is that my monitor now has about 12 dead pixels on the screen, and one of them is a giant cluster of about 6 or so, just off the center of the screen. It looks like a pen mark right on my screen. I can live with the other 6 dead pixels. I had to look pretty close to spot them. But this one cluster of 6 dead pixels is not something that is excusable. I don't know how I could have sent my computer to them with 0 dead pixels, and gotten it back with 12. Perhaps they swapped out my monitor or something, or it was damaged in shipment, or they damaged it during the installation of my new card... I don't know.

    Has anyone else had an experience like this before? And if so, do you think Alienware will do anything about it? I've had the computer since March of this year, so any dead pixel warrenty is long since dead (not that I got the extended dead pixel insurance though) But anyways... I kind of just needed to vent. I'll be calling Alienware back as soon as I can stress test my machine to make sure nothing else is wrong with it. Grrr... I should have bought a macbook... :mad:

    Did you bough it recently?

    If yes, well... you should have read the forum a little bit more.

    If no,

    a) use warranty;

    b) be a jerk and resell the notebook at ebay;

    c) trash cane.
