ok well I just sold the parent graphics card on my Alienware M9750 and so now I only have the daughter card on the smaller heat sink along with the north bridge and the CPU and the south bridge on the larger heat sink. but now when I play games the GPU get much hotter and then it throttles down. The GPU got to 102c while playing games for about 20 min then throttled down and that did not used to happen with both cards. I think this may be caused by the fan speed controlled by the CPU temp so when the GPU is getting hot and not effecting the CPU the fan speed stays low. I do know that this system supports a single graphics card and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or a fix to this?

I'd say replace the thermal paste on the GPU and northbridge. Even in a single configuration the 7950's should top out at around 95 Deg C. Also clean your air vents out when you change the paste. Should drop the temps quite a bit, and if all else fails then phone up alienware and get a replacement heatsink/fan assembly for it.

Well I have replaced the Thermal paste and cleaned out the vents so I guess it has to be the heat sink. I guess I will phone them up soon

Well if you used AS5 and you have already run it through a few heat cycles to run the paste in a little then the only thing it could be is a faulty heatsink/fan. I'd phone up Alienware ASAP and get that replaced since you really dont want to fry the card considering they are so hard to come by these days.
