    Hey Guys,

Not sure where to post this as this is more of a general question. Recently I ordered the alienware 15, and I know that this laptop has the new M.2 port which is different then the traditional msata ports. Before I get questions as to why would you pay to get the new alienwares, my answer is simply I got a good deal on a 980m and I needed a new laptop.

My question is, does anyone know where I can get an adapter to use my Crucial M550 mSATA drive in the new system? The exact model of the drive I would like to use in the new system is CT512M550SSD3.

Thanks in advance for your help and assistance.

Jsut be aware of the extra width that can impact on other components/mounting.

Thank you all for the quick responses. I will definitely take a look at the width issues, once I receive the laptop.

The motherboard has them all in a row so if the mounting permits it you may be able to use the adapter but it would sit in the middle taking up 3 slots.

Look at the slots to tell which is which for m.2 vs msata (as shown in his picture) msata is wider and can only have one notch missing.

Thank you both so much. I will let you know how it works out once the laptop is delivered. ETA 2/24 and I ordered 1 week ago.

So since it looks like you ordered the 15 inch model, you will have to install the adapter into the slot next to the hdd and hope that the there is enough space over the hdd mounting screw area for the overlap.

so I ordered the adapter, it took about 3 weeks to arrive and it doesn't fit. The adapter seems to be a millimeter too big to fit in the space. I went ahead and ordered a msata 2.5 adapter and will just replace the HDD. I just want to say thank you for everyone's help.
