Alright so I did a clean install of windows 7 last night and noticed I ran into some pretty major problems once it was installed:
1. I have no internet connection - not even a wired connection works (all my internet related devices like Ethernet, my wireless card, network controller, pci device, and others have yellow triangles next to them in Device Manager)
2. Windows isn't recognizing my secondary HD (I have a SSD in the main bay and a HD in my optical drive) EVEN THOUGH IT DID WHEN INSTALLING. - Maybe its because I haven't installed drivers for it yet?
3. Windows isn't recognzing my display adaptor - max resolution I can use is 1024 x 768 - I have a 1600x900 screen....maybe driver related again?
Out of all these #1 is probably the biggest as I can't access the internet at all. Also before I did the clean install I secure Erased both HD's with Parted Magic. Any help is appreciated as I am afraid I might have to get this fixed by someone and pay

Hmmm...it could be a corrupt Windows installation. Since it is a clean install, perhaps try it again? Also, did you ever edit any BIOS settings prior to the installation?
Otherwise just download and install all of your M14x drivers and see if that corrects the recognition issues. -
Did you install ANY drivers?
-
Seconded to Alien_FlyBoy: did you install the drivers? Use the drivers/resources CD that came with your computer to install them all.

Here is my problem....I use a portable optical drive because my HD took over the optical bay....I booted from my portable optical drive with the M14x Resources CD and it gets to a certain spot and says "working..." and says something about a driver but it doesn't actually go anywhere with it....anyways I am going to download the drivers from a different computer and see what happens once I do that
I just can't figure out how to get internet working...anyone know which driver it is? I notice at startup it goes straight to a screen for Atheros Ethernet...but never does anything and continues on...I am truly stumped so I erased my SSD again and am trying another clean install
I am going to take the HD out of the optical drive and put the stock optical drive in as I think that will eliminate a lot of issues. I will put the HD back in after installing Windows and get everything running right. -
Sounds like a plan. I am confident that with the internal optical drive you will have a hassle free installation.

Alright so replacing the HD with the optical drive proved to be pointless as the optical drive kept ejecting the Windows Disk right as I put it in, I ended up just using my portable optical drive again. However, I finally have everything working. All I had to do was simply put all the drivers on a USB Drive from another computer and then put them on my computer -.-
So after much frustration I got everything good and ready to go (for the most part, still have to put HD in...). Well I guess it was a good learning experience haha
MOD can delete this, was able to figure it out! Sorry -
If the drive isn't showing in the bios, then that means that the computer isn't recognizing the drive and the problem doesn't lie with windows. Make sure the drive and the caddy are both firmly inserted.
Even if the drive isn't formatted, it should show up in the windows disk management utility if the drive is recognized by the laptop. -

Having all relevant system drivers stored on a flash drive is a good idea. Something I have stashed away for whenever I want to do a clean install. You can also do a Windows install from USB too: Microsoft Store Online
All you need do then is install windows via a USB 2.0 port and transfer all your system drivers over from that "saved driver's" USB drive you created earlier and install them and Bob's your Uncle! - job done! -
Well it has been a major PITA, but at least now I know what to do in the future
