Problem occurred 2 days ago that my computer just froze while I was surfing so I shut it off and restarted and Check disk utility came up for the very first time, so I let it ran its process and the first thing I noticed when Windows 7 logged in was a pop up box saying something regarding iTuneshelper.exe not working properly or some along those lines due to GDIPLUS.DLL not found, so I tried to reinstall that file, no dice, so I restarted my laptop and just about everytime some new .DLL file is missing or corrupt. So I tried to upgrade/repair my Windows 7, no dice. So I tried to install a fresh Windows 7 and now even that's giving me an error. C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Windows\winsxs\AMD64........... is corrupt or missing. I tried to delete that folder but it won't let me and everytime I tried to install fresh Windows 7, it always pops up an error dircting towards that folder stated above but I can't delete it, sigh, this is really frustrating, any advise or words of wisdom is appreciated.

It sounds like either your harddrive is failing or you have a really nasty virus. I'd call Dell tech support and let them sort it out. However, if it was me, and I have a spare, I'd replace the harddrive and reload Windows. If that fixes it, fine. Then I'd call Dell support and try to get them to replace it. My knowledge is limited and that's all I can tell you. Good luck.

Either that or you have a RAM issue. Usually come up with corrupt files or such when trying to install Windows. Can try downloading memtest86 on a working PC and run it on you laptop. Full test can take a while though.
-
i just realized that I haven't try AlienRespawn yet, I will try that and let yall know if that works, thanks for all your inputs.

Check your hdd (manufacturer specific) and memory (memtest86+) for errors.
Ultimate Boot CD - Overview both are included on that cd. -
Have you tried to completely reformat the HD during the Windows 7 install from the advanced menu? That will definitely clean up the HD.
Do you have restore disks for your Alienware? If so, I would use them instead of a fresh install of Windows 7. I have read (on these forums), no personal experience, that Alienware computers are difficult to set up and drivers, software, etc. must be installed in a certain order for everything to work properly (of course that is after the OS has been installed).
If you have difficulty restoring your laptop back to factory you might want to ask your questions in one of the Alienware forums on NBR Alienware M17x as you would more likely get specific answers directed toward your laptop model. -
If you still have the problem try restart your system and keep hitting F8 for safe mode and run self Diagnostics that will check your memory and hard drive everything.
-
try deleting the partition and format it... or it might be your CD problem.

the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
^^ my thoughts also. dont forget to write the codes down when a error apears so you can give them to tech support.

This is a windows DLL which resides in the registry. Probably some patch or utility has corrupted GDIPLUS.DLL and the only way to fix it is to run a registry cleaner. Registry cleaners are very aggressive and this is the kind of damage they do when you run them too frequently. If a registry cleaner won't fix the error than you will have to reinstall your operating system, (respawn, datasafe, whatever)
*Use a 64 bit registry cleaner
*Do not use a 32 bit cleaner
*If not sure whether 32 or 64 bit than always assume 32 bit
*Read some reviews like cnet before buying a cleaner $19.95 is about a typical price.
*There are free registry cleaners but most of those are 32 bit and you get what you pay for.
*Registry cleaners are extremely aggressive and will start removing more DLL if not used carfully.
Gdiplus.dll error messages might be caused by installing certain programs, when Windows starts or shuts down, or during a Windows installation. Gdiplus.dll Errors are are caused by situations that lead to the removal or corruption of the gdiplus DLL file. In some cases, gdiplus.dll errors could indicate a registry problem, a virus or malware issue or even a hardware failure.
Possible causes
1) bad software install or update (including windows)
2) utility gone wild
3) virus malware
4) failing hardware
P.S. I made the assumption you are using Windows 7 64 bit. If you are using another OS or a 32 bit operating system than match the registry cleaner to the operating system you have. -
You likely have a failing harddrive.
The default chkdsk will attempt to fix a corrupt file system, but it does not mark bad areas of the drive so that Windows no longer uses them.
What you've described would occur if you have multiple bad sectors on the drive and Windows is attempting to use those bad clusters on those sectors.
Running the more extensive chkdsk /r would mark the sectors as bad, and allow you to continue using your computer, but my experience is that most of the time once bad clusters begin to appear they continue to grow.
Reformatting/repartitioning will NOT solve your problem in the long run.
It would be best if you installed a new harddrive. -
The OP may not even be reading this thread. I noticed that 15 minutes after making this post he/she also posted the same question to the Alienware forum and also has been getting responses there.
A Mod should probably combine the two threads to the Alienware forum.

A note to the OP, double posting the same question to multiple forums is not allowed on NBR. -
I have merged your 2 threads as cross posting is not allowed on this forum. Please do not do this again. Thanks.
Major help needed please
