Hey guys I was wondering if you would like me to create a tutorial video so that M9750 owners and M17 users could upgrade their hard drive, ram, and GPU's (if that happens). This video wouldn't be hard for me to do at all and I just need to make sure I have enough room on my memory card on my camera :).

    The video would mainly cover.
    1. GPU
    2. Hard Drive
    3. RAM

I would try to get a few good shots as well.

That would be super useful Stone, and I for one would appreciate it. Do we know for sure that the M17 case layout will be identical to the M9750?

I'm fairly sure they're quite different, though similarities may exist.

Oh well if someone could compare them (I'll search around when I get home because AW should have some diagrams up). If they aren't very simialar then I may not make a video as it would only be helping M9750 users and our days are limited 0_0.

The only way that we have a possibility of coming back is if we can get the HD 4800 series in our M9750s (just 1 card). If they take up too much power maybe we can buy the M17 power supply (assuming it is a higher voltage).

There is always hope... but it's a long time away :(

    Hi Stone,
Based on what I saw in Alienware official pictures, the bottom panel removes the same way, but the position of internal components is a little different. However, there's not enough of a difference that people couldn't figure it out by referencing your tutorial. Also, the hard drives are in the exact same spot.

What's a little interesting about the m17 is that it has an external BIOS reset switch next to the optical drive. You no longer have to pull the coin battery cable if something bad happens. Also, it looks the the cooling has been improved. You can see, based on the picture provided, that fans are more logically placed.

You can reset the Bios by holding down the power button with the battery and power cord out for 20 seconds if I am not mistaken on the M9750 and a lot of other laptops.
