Well I bought my laptop two weeks ago or so, paid $1899 before taxes, haggled them down $100 off the taxes - core i7 740, 4gb ram, 5850, 250gb drive, 1080p screen.
Right now they're offering promotions where you can get my exact laptop with 6GB's of memory ad a 500GB Hdd for $1649 before taxes.
I can't help but feel a bit screwed over, or out of $200, and a few more than acceptable "upgrades".
I remember back in the day with Dell you could call CS and they'd make even with you in these situations. Should I?

Cancel it if you don't already have it, return it and reorder if you do.
I went through almost 6 orders till i got what i wanted -
It would be so much easier for Dell to simply offer the 30day price guarantee. That way if a customer finds a better price in the 21 day return period they can get the money, a free upgrade of the same price, etc, etc. So many large corporations do this and it would make Dell/AW customers feel so much better. I can't see that returning a laptop and it being deemed refurbished when it comes back to Dell as being cost effective to the company.
Just my 2cents. I didn't return mine for a better price or options but I have seen many that did and still do. Why not just bypass this by offering the price guarantee, it's not like the brand is found in Walmart and AW/Dell has to compete with their prices. Dell would only be honoring their own prices.
You can try to call a Sales rep and see if they will do anything but you do have a 'no questions asked' return period. I hope you don't have to use it. -

1) Go config the new laptop with that promo you are talking about. (In my case, I usually SNIP the total price with the specs and have it in front of me on the computer when calling them.)
2) Call Dell CS and tell them that you need a price guarantee due to the fact that the new config with higher specs cost less than what you paid with lesser specs. Dell will go config the specs you mentioned to verify the price.
3) If the rep you have is nice enough, they will credit the difference for you.
Hope that helps -
On top of the return policy canll and tell them, and be ademement that you want to return the system. They will offer you $100 back to keep the system. At that point it's up to you.
You can return and reorder, but you will have to reorder now probably, not sur ehow long the promotion is going to be going. But you won't be credited till the system makes it back to Dell and then inventory it. Just an idea. -
I'm curious, I kinda want that Alienware case, Orion or something or rather, think if I called and was more or less disappointed with the system cause of X issues and the noticed price difference and was considering to return the system that I could swing it that I may if they threw that in?
I need to call them anyway and get the keyboard and indicator panel replaced, the lighting is a bit inconsistent and the indicator panel doesn't even display proper colors. White is hot pink, green is neon yellow, etc. On top of the color issues my space bar sits Crockett (one side sticks up awkwardly) and is very very squeaky. -
You won't get a pure white back light, it'll always have a bit of pink hue. This is because to create "white" they just enable all three LED's (Red, Green, and Blue) at the same intensity iirc.

definitely return the system. too bad amazon doesn't do this. i would've tossed it back @ them. good luck i hope you get that fixed cause it's a shame what the market does to us users just to get their stuff and in return we get problems and they don't want to deal with it. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

Try calling the reseller / customer hotline.

I called a rep regarding the same issue. He's extremely helpful. Although he said he could not do anything about that while the system is in priduction, he got all the information needed to help me out after the system is shipped. He was waiting on the phone to make sure I got his email and he called back a day after when he needed some more info.

Sure
The difference is $300 if you compare old MSRP and the new one. And roughly $150 compared to what I paid. So hopefully I will get that $100 difference back
I'm still in waiting time so I think it's a fair game -

It will last until the end of Oct.
To make sure we are on the same page, are you talking about the 20% off and lower priced configurations? -
