After waiting for more than 7 months I won't buy an Alienware m17x.

I need a laptop before mid July and we haven't got any idea of the European release date.

I'm really disappointed with Alienware communication which make me wait for a so long time for nothing.

I just bought a Clevo D901C (for the equivalent of 5000$ before taxes), here the specs:
    - GPU 2x nVidia GeForce Go 8800M GTX SLI
    - screen WUXGA 1920 x 1200 TFT (Glare-type SmartView) (zero dead pixel granted)
    - CPU Intel® Core 2 Quad Extreme QX9650 - 3GHz 12Mo cache - Bus 1333MHz - 64bits - 45nm
    - RAM 4Go SO-DIMM RAM DDR-2 / 800 MHz (2 x 2048 Mo)
    - DVD-RW 24/8/4/2x Burner & Blue-ray Reader
    - Hard Drive 200 Go - 7200 tr/mn - Cache 16 Mo - SATA 300 x 2 (RAID 0)
    - OS Microsoft® Windows® VISTA Ultimate 64 Bits + Service Packs
    - WIFI Intel PRO/Wireless 4965ABN 802.11N
    - WEBCAM 2.0M

All my friends knew that I was planning to buy an Alienware. All will know that I don't.

I remember having seen someone saying that there was no clevo reseller in France.
    Here a link http://www.pcw.fr
(It does'nt exist in the Clevo Reseller Thread).

Wow, well screw Alienware, but congrats on the new laptop. Most of us at NBR would say the D901C is better than the m17x anyway!

I live in France and there are a few clevo resellers, but there prices are VERY VERY HIGH, compare with the US PRICES. It is less expensive to buy an AW or DELL than a CLEVO/SEGER in EUROPE.( www.materile.net, http://www.gamelander.fr/, etc)

But if the money is not an issue you can get it without any problem :)

Wow Desktop Replacement. Basicly a Laptop setup with desktop CPU. I would of gone for a high end dual core. For Games. Quad core right now it not worth it. untel software supports it.

Odessa, the Clevo I bought is less expensive than the Alienware (and the DELL).
I think on pcw you can buy for the same price as dell on a big configuration.
Of course, if you take a small it will be more expensive.

Ca sent quand même bien l'éliminination ;).

they will still make a huge improvement as most have a 12mb cache instead of 6mb that is the highest right now on dual cores. it also futureproof the systems and the 9262 is also more suseptable to future available upgrades as it has such a good cooling.

EH, not wishing to sound rude or anything James but, we've been told this since November 2007........

It seems that none at Alienware can give a definative date/time/month for the release, seems it get's moved further and further away.

    Please, can you help?

It's not like we're going to tell the world... to be honest only people who are looking for the m17x will want to know anyway.

    Just my 2p...

    OB

Maybe unlike the m15x they found some problems with it before they shipped them out. So they dont want more people on here flaming them.

Please remember that there are many factors that must be considered before we launch a new platform in other locations. While we don't have an exact date to give, we'll make sure to let you all know when we have a confident release time.

We're putting all our efforts to make this available to our International customers and we anticipate letting you know when it is ready.

    Thanks!
