Has anyone else had this problem? This morning when I started up my M17x I noticed that the media buttons were not showing up. I have an external keyboard and the numlock light was on so I was puzzled. I restarted the lappy and still no media buttons. I even went into the command center and changed colors and still no luck. The other lighting systems are working fine. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Blazer -

    Power Down System
    Remove AC Power Cord
    Remove Battery
Depress and Hold Power Button for a 10 count and then release
    Replace Battery
    Repace AC Power Cord
    Power up the system

Thanks, Bats for getting back to me so quickly. I remember once having to use this fix on my old AW mALX lappy and it worked as well. It had to do with not booting up.
Can you give me your opinion on another item? I recently purchased Star Trek Online and when I tried to run it, I got a message saying that it could not be run until I updated my video drivers. I went to Dell/AW site for the most recent driver and it gave me the 186.64 WHQL. Is that the most recent and best driver to update? Or do you know a better one?

    Thanks again for your help.

You can try the 186.64 driver Blazer. When I tested 186.64 it was under Vista so I have no idea if you will have the same results. STOL may just need the latest.

You could always try the latest 196 series - might need to grab from LV2Go as it may require using a modded INF file to install due to the 9400 equation.

I would say try 186.82 and if that doesnt work, move to the latest. 179.85 is just to out of date for some of these newer releases.

If you have not used a modded INF before with NV Display Drivers, I briefly mention copying a modded INF into the directory here here.

Your best bet, is to hit up the folks with this question in the R1 Owner's Lounge. Someone with the M17x R1 other than you is playing this one without issue. ;)

this happens to me some times, i think it's only a small glitch where all i have to do is turn off my laptop, then hold the power button uintil they light up. i remember reading somehwere they they are usb ran and sometimes don't get turned on if u just press the button real quick, so hold it for a second. but that's just for me, your problem might be different.

This has happened to me a couple of times, just restart the computer and the buttons reappear.
