Hey I did a bit of searching and so far I've been unable to find out how to access the memory timing in the Alienware M9750. Has anyone been able to figure this out?

Download the CPU-Z program. It will allow you to see what the timings are, but it will not allow you to change them.

I don't think there is. Normally, it is done from within the BIOS, but it may not be possible with the M9750. They are normally set at the lowest value anyway, so the system may not work correctly if they are set below the default values.

Ah, I'm trying to figure out how to get better performance from my RAM. I bought 2x2gb kingston sticks but I'm only getting a 4.6 on the windows vista rating for memory.

I'm not entirely sure on this, but I think that score is fine. If you have 32-bit Vista, then the computer will not be able to use a chunk of that 4 GB anyway, and it may just be a "lower" score because of that. So long as you are not using all that 3 GB for programs, I think you should be fine.

Someone with a M9750 will be able to clarify the situation, and should be able to provide more information than me.

i'm getting a 5.1 with 4gb of Kingston 667mhz RAM, on Vista 32bit. strange that you only get 4.6.

I know, my friend is getting a 5.0 with his RAM and he has kingston as well. I'm pretty sure his is the same type as mine. Its the only thing holding my system back XD Everything else is at 5.2+

I get 4.7 (memory= 4.7) on my m9750 with stock 2GB ram. May have something to do with the size and brand of ram used. OS = Vista 32

you can use memset to adjust your RAM timings, but use it on your own risk, it can cause your OS to freeze on startup if done wrong and saved on boot, also you cant trust stability, if you push it too hard, you'll get random freezes.

    you can get it here:

I'm getting a 4.7 memory rating with the stock AW 4GB of ram, I wonder if I should replace them with Corsair or Patriot?

I'm thinking about just replacing mine even though I just bought it and putting it in my wifes laptop. She only has 1GB anyways. this one score under 5 is killing me XD
