Hello, I have yet another question for all you m15x brainiacs :p

My right speaker sometimes gets very tinny. Like anything past 40 volume and it gets tinny and hurts your ears (kinda hard to explain). I thought it was a blown speaker, but it only comes every other day. On top of this, if I press down on the plastic over my right speaker it seems to kinda stop. Obviously not a blown speaker. Maybe it's somehow the right frequency and is causing the mesh to vibrate or something?

Hmm I just don't know. I want this fixed :p

I'm talking about anything past 40 volume in game or music or anything.

    Hello Vidiot!

Please download the DPC Latency checker and if possible, take a screenshot of your values [using print screen and ctrl+v ( paste) in paint.]
    http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

The problem might be arising from the latency caused by the BIOS. If it is, then you may need to flash your BIOS to either X32 or X36 (that is, if you don't already have that.)

If not, you might just only need to adjust your equalizer settings so it doesn't sound "tinny." I'll take a screenshot of my equalizer settings when I have the time, but for now, please attach a screenshot of the DPC latency values that you're getting.

Sorry to hear about your speaker problem. The Alienware M15x speakers are probably the worst in the industry. There is little you can do to make them sound good, it's one of the short comings of this laptop. I think you just need to resolve to carry around a portable set if you want any kind of decent sound. Sad but its the way they are.

I wonder how hard it would be to swap out these speakers and replace them with some nicer ones . Is it possible? I even have some soldering tools if it calls for it :D

@oceanus - I have the x36 bios. I tried the equalizer settings but it didn't help. It sounds to me what I would imagine a blown speaker would be like considering it only comes from the right side and only at high pitched sounds, but it only comes every other day or so....
