This thing randomly appeared in Network Connections a few days ago. I can't seem to make it go away.
A google search says its a part of my Wifi adapter drivers, but I checked, they weren't updated and haven't been changed. I still have the same drivers as I always have for the Intel 6300 N, the ones from dell's website.
Has anyone else noticed this thing? Uninstalling it in Device Manager doesn't work either, it just comes back after a reboot and the drivers for it reinstall themselves automatically.

You running a virtual machine, or installed virtual XP?
-
Ya that appeared for me when I installed Windows XP mode on my Win 7 install.
-
I am not running any virtual machines or windows xp mode.
the only thing i can think of that I've done similar to that would be remote desktop connection and remote assistance (i connected to my mom's computer over the internet and fixed a problem on her machine)
it suffices to say that I would still like to remove this device permanently, whatever may be the cause of its appearance. -

Do you have VT enabled in the bios even though you are not running any virtual machines?
If so try disabling it in the bios and chck again to see if it's still there. -

same thing happened to me one day it just appeared out of nowhere
-
Desu, is it still in your network connections?
-
my r1 has it as well and its been there a long time. if im not wrong its some win 7 thing which lets u virtualise your network adapter. doesnt affect anything if you just leave it there anyways.
-
yes it shows up as wireless network connection 2 and it isn't connnect to anything. Even though my 1510n card is connected to my network. It bugs me though cause i did uninstall it and it did come back too

I have it too. Perhaps it's related to the new bios.

i found this on the subject link
apparently to be windows 7 driver certified they have to have drivers written to us ms virtual network adapterLast edited by a moderator: May 5, 2015 -
Can more people please open their network connections and report if its there or not?
If anyone hasn't installed A05 on their M17x R-2 yet, let me know if it is in your network connections folder before and after you install the latest Bios. -
it might be related to WiDi wireless display adapter. netgear has that wireless tv adapter. and it has that same virtual wireless driver you need for it to work. if you go to best buy and look at the Blue Label laptops device manger it has the same virtual wireless driver. You might be able to now use the netgear tv adapter to hook your laptop up wirelessly.

if you look at the product it dosen't come with any cd or anything. if you have intel's 6300 wifi card and a I series processor all you need is intel's WiDi driver and software to use it. netgear uses the drivers that intel put out. maybe dell is trying to add the wireless display support to the M17x R2 if you have all the right parts.
the only reason I am saying this is if you go to best buy and check out the device manger on those BLue Lable laptops they have that drive installed
here is more info on it Wireless Display - Intel -
