Hi,
I am planning to install a Mini/Half Mini PCIe SSD card to my m15x with all the tools and stuff that I may need to bring the system back to life if in case it dies.
Unlike having everything in a recovery partition I would like to utilize this empty slot with data recovery tools and all that you may think off to bring it back to life... oh yeah and on a XP installation to support legacy tools.
Ok.. the Question - anybody aware if this is full size Mini PCIe or Half Mini PCIe... my guess is that its Half PCIe empty slot next to Battery Cell just want to confirm... Thanks in Advance.

why don't you just get a usb pen drive? or even a esata pen drive? pci-e ssd's are expensive and their performance is crap. and the better ones are very overpriced.
It's full size though but it doesn't matter anyway.
the m15x bios doesn't recognize pci-e ssd's.
you can always boot with an usb stick. -
the m15x has three mini-PCIe slots, one's taken up by the wifi. the other two (one, if you've got Turbo Memory) should be free. you'll notice them quite easily if you open up the service cover.

Thanks Whizzo.. I did noticed them but I wanted to confirm if this half or full. I doubt its full because full mini PCIe is quite big in size and half looks the same size as WiFi card.

Its strange if they dont support to boot from PCIe... have you tried it already or any official rep wanna confirm it? -
very probably half-size. i think it's been discussed before, actually.
-
Yeah, if only I could search for it... any idea why the search has been disabled on server??
-
not sure either. i ordered a half mini (i think) lol...it will be up here soon, and i plan on trying to get it in the unit.
-
-
i got is from newegg, and as soon as it arrives here, i will post the info from the unit....i am hoping it will be here by thurs/fri when the plane gets in.
-
good luck. I hope you can return your card... I really doubt it will work. but who knowns, maybe the compatibility it's because of the mini pci-e card and not the bios. -
i heard a few things like this as well.
i got mine just for storage within the unit to seperate my music and such from data...
we shall see...lol -
I posted in the other thread about this. I've tried a 64gb Runcore (50mm) it didn't work at all. They fit in two of the three slots, but the bios doesn't recognize them and obviously Windows doesn't either. You may have better luck than me, try a different make maybe?

update:
wrong size card.
i got the following SuperTalent unit, but it is not half-mini pci-e.
i will re-order a half mini and update when that comes in. -
Awwnn... atleast I was right about the size
-
hehe...yeah.
i ordered it a long time ago and had it shipped to a different address and just forgot about it until just before you started the thread.
update to follow again after the new unit.
that said, anyone who needs or wants the above unit, PM me. I will sell for $25.00 plus s/h. -
update 2:
ordered the half mini version of ssd pci-e today.
amazon and/or newegg cannot ship certain items to my location, thus it may take some time for me to get it, (as it will need to be forwarded to me from a stateside location/address) or i will have to wait until august time frame to install this time.
