Well, I recently reformatted my m17x, and I was browsing through the dell website, downloading the drivers I need and such. I downloaded and installed the bios update. After doing so, I am getting "Missing operating system" right after I reboot. ( After you see the big alien head ) It just hangs there, any suggestions?

go into bios and re-enable the SATA ports, if you can
-
RAID 1 can be even worse if you forget, it will actually boot on one drive, install not-raid drive controller drivers and then you're stuck having to repair your Windows install after you re-enable raid -
I did that just now ( set it to RAID, it was in ACDI or something ) and it boots to where it tells you the health of the raid and such then it says Missing operating system once again.
( I use RAID 0 ) -
Ahh, well i do infact have RAID 0 and this has happened to me quite a few times so just throwing it out there that's how i fix it, should have asked first what hard drive set-up he had
have you enabled all 3 SATA ports after switching it back to RAID? -
As Mirrors said (I too have had this issue before) simply re-enabling the raid in BIOS usually fixes the issue.
Hmmmm. -
After enabling RAID again another menu underneath it called NV RAID options or something along those lines should show up, when you enter that menu you should be able to enable the config and SATA ports 0 and 3
-
Alright, I attached what my bios look like. I can't really read the part before it says "Missing operating system" anymore, loads far too quickly.

yes you need to hit enter on the NV RAID configuration option and should bring you to the screen where you can re-enable the ports, as you did not post a pic of that screen, unless you have tried that

Thanks guys, it works fine now. =]
