Not sure whether this is Crossfire, or a single GPU solution. Hopefully this is just one GPU, cause if we see this come in Crossfire then expect 19k+ easily! Anyhow.. thought y'all may be interested.

If this is just with one card then imagine two! This card is going to kick !

    Might be two.

    The ASUS W90 is touting 15K 3Dmark06 using dual 4870s with a T9600 2.8Ghz and 6Gb 800Mhz DDR2 RAM.

The scores you found are with an extreme X9100 that doesn't seem to be OCed but the W90 comes with a feature called Turbo Gear that overclocks the system by up to 25%. (I think it's like SetFSB).

I'm going to guess ASUS used Turbo Gear to OC their T9600 before they ran their 3DMark06 test which would put it at speeds close to an X9100 and put that score of 15033 you found to be on par with running 2 cards.

It's definitely two cards: SM2.0 and SM3.0 scores are higher than a single desktop 4870.

Yes..they *should* be - And this gem came from an undisclosed source. Someone very close, and unfortunately I can't reveal their identity. Otherwise, they may catch a bunch of flack.

Oh this means two 3870 will be not far behind one 4870 ... :(
I am not happy with this ...

That's nothing. Matter of fact, a desktop 9800 GTX+ beats a desktop 4870 in 3dmark06. Also, adding a 2nd card in crossfire won't show a big gain in 3d06 either with the 48xx cards in particular.

Again, the 48xx benchmarking prowess is shown in Vantage rather than 3d06.

Here's an example of what I mean:

    3dmark06:
    http://www.legitreviews.com/article/734/14/

    3dmark Vantage:

Edit: But obviously synthetic benchmarks don't tell the whole story about what the RV770 architecture is capable of...

So you think I don't have to be disappointed?

    I understand what you mean!
"The power is shown in Vantage and not in 3DMark06"
But what about games like Crysis @ DX10? I gess C is more like Vantage than 3DMark06^^

And what about my comparison ... will one 4870 let the 2x3870 CROSSFIREX look old @ e.g Vantage or Crysis?

Thank you 4 this info! :)

    Greetings
    Julian

You shouldn't, and I think you're expecting way too much of the 4870s. Due to a better design, it's likely that a single 4870 might edge out two 3870s in crossfire in some games, but one shouldn't be disappointed if they don't. Vantage shows a single 4870s scoring close to two 3870s, and a single 4870 would outperform dual 3870s in Crysis and other certain titles.

Hmm.. But 2 3870s outscore 2 GTXs in 3dmark06, and we all know that is the king of benchmark ;) kidding. Anyhow, Im trying to get a vantage run.. The source said 12k+ - Waiting for images.

not sure.. but I like fusion's idea. If you look in OCZ thread Quadzilla ran a bench with GTX 260s in SLI and it appears the same way
