Any particular reason you got the 8700 instead of the 8800?
-
Well It was what I could afford. I plan to upgrate eventually, but yeah money was the reason. Its not bad though. I play Crysis on Medium and almost all other games on High settings.

awesome pics mate
-
Simply amazing, How long did it take to get to you, and are you in the UK or US?
-
Nice pics man!!!!!
-
I had a problem with my last laptop from them and fought with them a while for an exchange, so they actually bumped up my laptop build to the front of the line and shipped it express. It went from Phase 1 to My Door in around 5 days. I live in the US.

Alienware-Armando Company Representative
Thank you for sharing your experience and the pictures, glad to know you are enjoying it!
-
Armando, although I think it's great to have you here saying that nice photos are indeed nice, why don't you post any comments regarding people with problems? There's plenty of photos with CPUs overheating, GPUs overheating (mine for example, above 105C), cases melting, etc etc...
Why don't you comment on those photos?
I would like to think AW is doing a great job by having representatives such as yourself in this forum, but if your only job is to come and say nice things to people, without working with your costumers to make the M15x working the way it's being advertised and sold by you, then I think what you are doing is just throwing dust and sand around.
Very honestly, I've had enough with AW representatives on the forum sending PMs and trying to be very helpful... They have nice beautiful sentences that, in the end, are actually full of nothing. I've had representatives emailing me asking for account number and etc, so that they can personally follow my case... Never again I heard from them.
As it stands now, for me your only job is to try and hide the wounds and to be AW public relationship manager.
It's time to see you guys actually doing something.
Thanks,
M
ps: Sorry for the topic hijacking, but this last post from AW Armando just sounded really hollow to me. How can you possible reply to a post like this when AW remains silent regarding all the other M15x's issues? This is really offensive and unrespectful, in my humble opinion. -
Milcs.. thats cold man, but i agree.
I actually made a thread about that myself but everyone shot me down, if they know the problems why don't they do something about them? -
Agree with you there Milcs, I placed an order for the m15x today spending just under 2K and I did it with a shade of dissapointment. I would have loved to spend my money on the black m15x but instead bit the bullet. All I would have liked would have been an update telling me when it would arrive but then that would be for America so being in the UK I would wait longer. Man I can't beleive im this upset on the day I finnaly got round to it, after years of waiting to order an Alienware...

Thanks a lot for posting this. I was wondering where the RAM slots were.
Payment just went from my CC today.
-
Despite all the problems with shipping, there seems to be no lack of buyers in the m15x department...
-
good or bad news then lol

Hey marcham89 how are you doing man? Tell us what happened to your m15x?
-
Well I have been traveling a lot! (Laptop wise)
Let me tell my story quickly:
Laptop 1: Alienware m5550)
Started with this laptop. Got sent back 6 times to repair until they agreed after one year that they would replace it. So many overheating issues!
Laptop 2: Alienware m15x)
Next got this laptop. Was great, but bulky. I did enjoy it very much, but soon as the first problem came up I wanted a total refund and they accepted.
Laptop 3: Macbook Pro)
Uber amazing laptop! One of the best I ever owned, but I bought it right before the new macbook pro's were released. Apple upgraded be for free! You know what that means...
Laptop 4: Macbook Pro Unibody)
Once again amazing laptop just like the last. Really thin. Fast and just great.... but did not run windows well in boot camp.....so....
Laptop 5: Dell Studio XPS 16)
Laptop I currently own. Great and fast! Fastest I have ever owned, but a little thick. So far I have had a hard drive failure which sucks, but It was not Dell's fault. Dell also forgot some of my cds in the package.... Finally I think I may have a keyboard issue dell will be checking out this week (could be vista)
So yeah I have been up to a lot! Currently in the Dell and windows forum.
How have my alienware friends been? Laptops holding up? -
If you had to choose between the m15x and the MBP Unibody, which one would you take again (considering the new options available etc...) ?
-
Glad that you are enjoying your Studio 16. Is it a 15 incher as well?
My m15x so far is doing good hardware wise, no overheating problems, but my right hinge is started to come apart a little more as time goes on, it's almost a year now. I'll have to send it in for repairs after I get out of school in May. -
Thanks for the pics, good stuff
-
