Mr. Fox I kept the initial mod from you.. Basically 347.09 doesn't improve anything.. Only new profiles in nvidia control center for new games.. Which I don't own or will ever buy because of ubisucks being a total Jackass about watch dogs or assassin's Creed unity lol. Hope your Christmas was great my friend and everyone in NBR community as well. A big hug to everyone :D

Use the modded one linked in the opening post, NOT the 347.09 desktop mod. The former works great and the latter is junk.

your testing it with counterstrike ????
I am not even certain that maxed out settings accross the board would even be considered a load for that game.
The build on HD Graphics chip on my extreme Core can play that game @ 2560x1600 resolution max details and still gets 60 FPS non-stop.
I think the AERO desktop impacts performance more.

My cell phone can play it without heating up.

you should try something that requires more then standby powermode to play...

Your like a friend at my work that says " i7 there isnt an aplication that can work on it..it's just for high stuff...in gaming and normal stuff you can only use i5" :))

Theres a new counterstrike ? Does it resemble the original ? like, is it basically like playing the same game, from the original 1990's ? Anyways, sounds like it is a new game or something, which case It may very well use up more resources, but in university I was able to play the game on a PII 266 Celeron ith 32mb RAM and a 8GB HD using a geforce2

    1 - Yes. New from 2012.
2 - Yes. It's basically updated graphics (and I do mean GRAPHICS. Not animations. You still float up ladders) and a couple weapon tweaks. There's also a molotov now.
3 - Pretty much the same game from 1990s, despite a couple tweaks, yes.
    4 - If you're going for 60fps, I'm fairly certain a 8800GT could work.

The downclocking aggressiveness seems to be high with newer drivers. I would recommend forcing the power management setting in nVidia Control panel for that game to "prefer maximum performance". I'll show you in a picture below my text what it looks like.

Also, I know 120fps is something you'd want. CS:GO however, is very retarded and SOMETIMES it won't hold high FPS and other times it will. The whole source engine appears to be on a whim as to when it'll keep high FPS counts. I've played a bot match on De_Dust2 and gotten ~160 average FPS (maxed out) with drops under 120, only to restart my PC and (with the same system load; checked in real-time in both cases) sit at ~270fps with drops only hitting 220 at the lowest point. Game forced to one card, no overclocks, in both cases. The game is just weird. Nothing else I can say about it. Source engine on the whole appears to like giving me sub-120fps in games while barely touching my available power. I'll see 110fps in L4D2 with my cards sitting chilly at under 60 degrees and a glorious 35% load. I'm not asking for 35% load, I'm asking for 120+ fps 24/7 and use as much as you want to achieve it. BF4 is a similar matter. "Hey we're gonna drop you from your target 125 fps and give you 80-100 but your PC load is only at about 55%" is the big thing.

    Anyway, photo below:

like its going to make you play better with 120fps compared to 60fps. Its clever marketing making people invest in 120hz screens and better hardware. I do understand that its sweet on the eyes playing on 120hz but it wont affect your performance when playing competitively.

I like mine as a solid 144hz, I do notice a slight difference from 100hz but it is simplifying returns.

Well for one, if you're on a 128 tick server you need 128+ FPS for your game to refresh as fast as the server, so 60Hz screen or not, you WANT say a minimum of 130fps in CS:GO if on 128 tick servers.

That being said, 120fps helps a bit in faster motion FPS games when you're spinning and locking onto people. People don't "disappear" as easily if they duck out of sight around you. This is not as prevalent in CSGO however, where nobody ever attempts anything like that.

After only a couple of days with a 144hz monitor I can definitely see how it would be a substantial advantage in FPS games. Tracking movements and enemy directional changes is much easier. Especially keeping orientation during fast horizontal movements. Its not a necessity, but certainly gives an edge that would make all the difference at a pro level.
I've gone and done the lightboost hack mod to my monitor and it's pretty impressive. Those of you with SLIed 120hz beasts are lucky to have it all in 1 package.

Yeah.. you've got a keeper. Also the 570mw with a 120hz screen is a nicey too.
Have you tried doing a Lightboost mod? Not sure if you'll be able to but it's worth doing it you can.

Haven't tried it. I see extremely little motion blur here; enough that I find it pretty negligible if it does appear, so I never bothered hunting for it. My colour profile also helps the actual backlight from this thing; it lacks a bit of blue, but after a while I got used to it and now really prefer it. It's a lot easier on my eyes than normal. That probably has nothing to do with lightboost, though.

Edit: can't lightboost. Only works on supported screens. Probably would also automatically disable itself once it sees I'm using a laptop GPU, because they're super clear that laptops aren't supported (even though I don't have the Optimus it claims doesn't support). Also, my calibration just deals with how my screen is on my eyes and lightboost would actually kill the colours slightly XD.

Mr Fox, I really love your Desktop driver mod but I've not been able to modify it myself.. My Hardware Device ID is PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8&SUBSYS_05511028

Could you please update your driver mod so I could use it? Thanks :).. Also is 344.75 better or 347.09 in your opinion? I'm a bit confused as people are saying 347.09 locks out ocing etc and I have no idea about the situation! Thanks :)

Unzip these files to overwrite the originals in the downloaded driver package and you should be good to go. View attachment Display.Driver.zip

If you are using Windows 8, don't forget to reboot with DSE disabled. If you have other drivers installed right now, use DDU in Safe Mode (replace GPU/shutdown method) before installing.

    I am using 344.75. I don't like 347.09 at all.

Right, totally skip the notebook driver and download the desktop 344.75, extract the contents to any folder where you want it, then replace those two files in the Display.Driver folder.

It certainly won't hurt to try it for either of your GPUs. You would have to update the mod to include your GPUs first. Take the zip file I linked above for Tom, open the nv_dispi.inf in NotePad and add a line to each section as noted in the example code below, or edit one of the existing lines and change the information to your hardware. For example, for 680M you could change the first line in each section from 119F (780M) to 11A0 for 680M (note the hardware ID is in two places on the same line). Under [Strings] you would also need to change 119F to 11A0 and change the name 780M to 680M. If your system is running a GPU that came stock as an option (not sure what kiwikewl is running) you need to open the INF file that normally supports your laptop and delete or mess up the lines with your hardware ID in order to force the driver installer to use the nv_dispi.inf file. An Alienware would be the nvdmi.inf file. 11E0 is the 770M hardware ID, so you could use the NotePad Find>Replace feature and just "Replace All" 11E0 with E011 or XXXX or anything else you want to as long as it is wrong.

If this doesn't make sense or you need more help let me know.

    Code:
    [NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0]
    %NVIDIA_DEV.119F% = Section034, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_119F
    %NVIDIA_DEV.1198% = Section034, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1198
    %NVIDIA_DEV.13D7% = Section034, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7
    %NVIDIA_DEV.13D8% = Section034, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8

    [NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1]
    %NVIDIA_DEV.119F% = Section152, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_119F

I stumbled into this when I modded the wrong driver by mistake, however for me it blanked out some of my sensor readings.

Still why notebooks force a reboot on sli for instance baffles me.

A reboot fixed my sensor readings. I'm unsure if I exited and restarted the sensors if it would have worked.

I personally did it for 650M but games didn't run from Nvidia GPU even if I told to.
So there are possibly new bugs for some mobile GPUs.

    Dear Mr Fox

I need help, I understand that this is a your thread but am desperate. I had gone thru all the threads but still dont understand how to get a working driver for my AW M17XR4.
I just replaced my GTX660M with a GTX970M. I have all the signs that I need a modded driver. I bought mine from HIDEvolution and had tried to install their driver. But I understand that its not a modded one.
My Bios A13, recognizes it as nVidia GFX. But windows only acknowledges it as a "Standard VGA Adapter" All the drivers from nVidia and Hide refuses to install indicating that "The graphics driver could not find compatible hardware.
I had reinstalled Windows 7 64-bit, installed all drivers EXCEPT Intel 4000 and the Nvidia one.

This is my first time upgrading my graphics card and I dont understand how to mod my own .inf file despite reading thru alot of diff threads.
Please help as its frustrating trying to get it to work.

    1. Disable driver signature verification in OS.
    2. Install Intel HD Driver if there are 2 VGA Devices in Device manager.
    3. Dowhnload modded driver and install.

    stupid hidevolution... monkeys.

So, what's the difference between this and the vanilla driver? Also will you update this for 347.09 beta?

He did provide the modded&gfe_rd 347.09 but they don't give any improvements.. So stick with 344.75. 349.07 don't bring nothing worth it... Just profiles for recent games... As I said... Nothing worth it..

See post 132, 133 and 134. Use the file I provided to Tom and you should be good to go. You definitely need to use a modded INF or the drivers will never be installed. The zip file has the modded files you need.

Hey Mr. Fox I was wondering if it would be at all possible, for you to modify the inf for my MSI GT70 Dominator PRO 2pe with the 880m, i would be forever in your debt and would rep you. I've been searching high and low and cant seem to find out how to do it myself. As well the modded driver did install the strange thing though is im seeing the same performance as before as well now i dont have any options in my Nvidia Control Panel. You seem like your the literally the best at this sort of thing, so i figured i would just ask. Thank you so much, I greatly appreciate it. :)

PS I beleieve these aare my hardware IDS
