No, not at this time. See the content of my posts yesterday. I know some people are really excited about those things. They don't mean much to be personally, but I'd be satisfied to have 780M SLI work correctly with or without those things. This digital genocide thing that the NVIDIOTS are doing is just so wrong. Rotten to the core, they are.

@GodlikeRU vBios is meant for Alienware only right? That vbios doesn't work on Clevo's 880m's?
-
As far as I know it does not matter which GPU. I know it does not matter with 780M or 980M. It only mattered with 680M because Dell used 2GB vRAM and Clevo 680M were 4GB vRAM, so those could not be mixed and matched due to the different memory capacity.
-
Weren't there in the wild some 880M's with 4gb of ram? Or maybe I'm mixing it up.. Can I flash it then?
-
I know the vbios for 880M(8GB vram) in T|I forum can be used on Clevo - Msi and Dell graphics card. Should be the same with this bios.
Mr. Fox likes this. -
If the vRAM amount is different, don't flash any vBIOS for a GPU with more or less vRAM as doing so can brick the card. I do not remember seeing 880M with 4GB of vRAM. I have seen some BGA versions of 980M with 4GB and 8GB.
That is correct. -
Hi all was wondering if you could help me have a alienware m17x r4 and have just recently updated my graphics card from a gtx 660m to a 970m it recognises the card but when I tried to find the drivers online it says I need manufacture drivers am new to all this so was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction and show me the modded drivers I need and how to install them
Thanks
Tom -
To me its either: Needs a new repaste with Artic MX 4 OR you have faulty GPU's OR faulty heatsinks!
Either way, i would do a proper repaste and cleaning my laptop by myself -
@j95 has a thread at Tech|Inferno with special tweaked drivers for Maxwell.
If you want to mod you own, below is a link to the instructions. Insert your hardware ID where appropriate.
[Quick Tips] GPU Driver INF Modding for 'Aftermarket Upgrades' -
Hey Mr. Fox ! I've been using your drivers for a long time now and i've been experiencing some trouble in the time and specially recently
First, Since some month the first problem started, nearly each time i power on the computer I experience a BSOD when i'm on the desktop with the bsod telling me it's the nvlddmkm.sys that has crashed.
Tried some tips on the net like taking the nvlddmkm.sy_ from the install drivers, decrypting it to get the .sys file and put it in sys32/driver but it didn't work. tried clean install to with ddu, same.
Well I tought it was just the drivers and I didn't went further. But now since yesterday my computer got crazy. I got that nvdlddmkm.sys bsod randomly, Got like 8 yesterday. I was playing when it happened, was on internet and it happened, and 1 time I was literraly doing nothing, just next to my comp, and it crashed in front of me again.. And with the bsod sometime my computer started to do 1 seconds bip with 1-2 sec of silence until i shut it off manually exept 1 time were it did bip twice and everything went back to normal, no bsod / shut off manually. My temps are good so it's not from here, or perhaps i've got a censor that is bad ?
The bsod happen more often after / while playing, so maybe the hibernate of the card is buggy ?
I'm kind of desesperate and looking for the answer my comp need, so if you have any clue keep me in touch please
Regards -
There was asus 880m that had 4gb vRAM so beware
-
What system model and GPU configuration do you have? You are having this problem using the same drivers that always used to work fine? If nothing has changed except the behavior of your system, see if it has the same problems on Intel HD Graphics. If all the problems go away, you may have a GPU failure.
-
Hello Mister fox. Thank you for the answer
I own a Clevo P170EM with a P17xsma motherboard, I7 4700MQ and GTX 675M
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1212&SUBSYS_74811558
Well first i've been able to get my card work thanks to your drivers since I was unable to install the oem drivers, some times after I tried to mod .inf file myself to try latest drivers since I had some trouble with Dark souls 3, I did suceed but my perf was crappy mostly crap in a lot of games exept some were i did not notice any difference and I fel my system was not stable that way. So I did stick with yours.
At first everything were okay, but some days after the bsod came out, that happened a lot when i did fresh install the drivers, no problem then some days after problems. But this week it did it so much it was impossible to live with it and the BIOS bip came out too so that kind of freaked me out. (1 long bip of 1 sec, then 1-2sec silence, with the caps lock, number lock and another one blinking, the three are in line)
I though about intel graphic, maybe it could have been the drivers that were in fault, dunno. But looks like I've managed to get it back in a pretty good state, I ran a memtest, no error. I resetted the bios, then I found something about TDR windows on internet since someone said it was related with nvlddmmkm.sys bsod, that the default delay for graphic card respond is 2 sec, that may have been what have solved my problem (at least for now), I had to add something in regedit since the default delay of windows is 2, I put it to 10 and no bsod since the bsod apocalypse. I guess my card is kind of slow or something. But well, I wish this it's solved now. Finger crossed.
PS: Thinking about it, in games I got a lot of randoms freeze, they happen anytime, they last for like 1 seconds, maybe 2 I guess if i'm right about the windows thing, the worst was on Counster Strike Global Offensive, this game made me freeze so much, like every 10 secs, just when you have to do the right thing.. Meh
Hope my futur gpu upgrade will help, but it's not for now unfortunatelyLast edited: May 21, 2016 -
Sounds like a failing gpu for me. 675m is a rebranded 580m that suffered from bad soldering.
Mr. Fox likes this. -
I agree. The behavior is what would be expected from a failing GPU. That GPU is pretty old now, too. @Shizuni is fortunate it has already lasted this many years.

Hey guys, thanks for your opinion. So I guess my card will soon leave me.. well for now it seems to be doing it's job, I'll changea it the time coming. Today I've changed my thermal past and my comp is doing quite good, and those low temps could give it some extra days lol
Anyway thanks, and Mr. Fox, keep the good work ! I'm looking toward your next drivers when a good one will be available

For those that have not seen the info in my other driver mod thread:
-
lol i know just how you feel, i sold off my Alienware and went with one of the newest msi laptops. could not be happier with it
-
So I installed everything in my m17x r4. Booting windows 10 running 345.2 that youve provided. HUGE THANK YOU for making it.... Hardest part of the install was figuring out that I needed to format my SSD to GPT lol xD Im an idiot. I got the card off of ebay and it was previously in sli for an Alienware 18 viking. Do I need to flash the vbios or anything. Right now the card is running extremely hot and I dont think the fan is turning on. The card runs fine for a bit but then gets really hot and frames drop. I dont want to burn the card. I kind of need to know as soon as possible thanks man!!!
-
Glad the driver mod worked well for you.
If the fans are not running, use HWiNFO64 and force them full blast to see if the GPU is still getting hot. If it is still getting too hot with the fans maxed out, you'll need to investigate why. If the fans being maxed out makes the GPU run cool, you will need to either use a HWiNFO64 custom fan profile or figure out why the fans are not turning on. -
Shes running cool as a cucumber. Thanks fox I also updated the driver to 368.25 that's the best one so far right?Mr. Fox likes this.
-
Glad to hear she is nice and cool now. That's awesome.
As I no longer own any Alienware systems and nothing with Kepler GPUs I do not know which is the best driver now. But, if it is working well for you it's a good one. -
Yes 368.25 is a good choice. Best drivers since old desktop mod.

Hello Mr.Fox
i got an MSI gt780mx. the old gtx570m is dead, so I searched for a new one, and I found an gtx675m at good price from an dell, now after i install video driver and the charger is plugged in , i get random restarts, whitout bsods, on battery works fine.
Please help me, i do no know what to do... -
1. I would probably flash a Clevo vBIOS of gtx 675m but no warranty.
2. Probably would use modded vBIOS with lower clocks/voltage to lower power hunger of GPU (I had it shutdown or restart on 570M with voltmod and overclock).
3. As a safer workaroung would use MSI afterburner or Nvidia Inspector to lower clocks.
4. Surely wouldn't ask this kind of question in this topic because it's out of the topic and it's long time no seen anyone since October, but you are lucky, I guess. -
I flashed MSI Vbios of gtx 675m , did not work.
Now i try nvidia Vbios .
It could be the ac charger? , becouse it only has 150w power, gtx 570m has only 70w tdp and gtx675m has 100w TDP, i need a better power supply, I think ...
could I flash gtx570m vbios ? -
675M is a 580m rebrand. I gave you several choices, one should work for sure. And I won't post anything else here about this problem.

Just use software method I mentioned. Nvidia inspector or MSI Afterburner, you can check it to downclock every boot and can tinker with different numbers (-50/100 processor/shader for beginning).
-
Nothing worked to me .... clearly need a vbios whit gtx570 mod
-
If you lowered clocks good good enough and it still shuts off then probably it is another problem. Create a topic or search for help in official GT780 owners thread.
-
There could be a lot of things. If it is shutting off when the GPU is not fully loaded and running at max speed, it is probably not the AC adapter. It could also be something with the system BIOS if that model was never sold with the GPU in question. Especially so if MSI does nonsense in the BIOS to block aftermarket upgrades.
-
This makes sens, so next try will be whit a moddified bios...
-
There were people successful with MSI GT783 and 675M GPU so as long as you have the latest BIOS you don't need anything to do with it. Of course you could take a pencil's erazer and clean contacts of GPU. Or check temperature of GPU. Or test another AC unit because mine is 180W, not 150W.
Of course you also can flash vBIOS of 570M which will kill your GPU but at least you won't have that random shutdown
What if previous fried GPU somehow damaged motherboard?
-
I posted on 9 forums, including tomshardware(there was no answear) This forum and an Romanian Softpedia forum were the best answears.
I already flashed gtx570m VbIos worked whitout problem.
I think MOBO is damaged, but anyway I send the GPU back to china
-
I saw response on MSI forum few weeks ago that 675m worked good on battery but connecting AC made loud sparkling sounds and Win10 screen of hardware malfunction.

Thinking at you, I found this:

Hello can someone help me with my alienware 18 780M not sli.. im using the updated nvidia 376.33 version but i got stuck current clock 405mhz and memory clock 400mhz.. my all temp are all good but it just stucked with that current clock but when i change my driver to 345.20 mod driver that mr. fox made it working perfectly i tried all the nvidia driver no luck
why is that happen? i hope someone got fix this thank you all --- i also change the setting the power prefer performance in nvidia control panel

Maybe join the T|I forum and see if you can get help https://www.techinferno.com/index.p...t-upgrades-driver-support-modded-inf/&page=64

I do not know that there is a good solution except for using antique drivers. These last two that I modded were the last two that allowed 780M SLI to function correctly. It seems like NVIDIA has pretty much just blown off all Kepler owners, and Maxwell will likely follow soon now that Pascal is out. They don't care, unfortunately. They know about it and have never lifted a finger to fix it.Aroc likes this.

Mr.Fox i tried updating the drivers and used DDU to remove old drivers but i still get an error during installation. Im using windows 10 and have 880m sli and using crappy drivers. Are the cards supposed to be flashed for this to work? Idk why im getting the error
-
Hi bud. Sorry to hear of your sorrows. Unfortunately, I do not have any suggestions for you. I've been Alienware-free for a little over a year now and don't know what works or does not work for Kepler today. Maybe test one of the @j95 desktop driver mods and see if that helps. I suspect the Green Goblin has written off all of their pre-Pascal customers. They seem to get some thrills from digital genocide.Last edited: Mar 14, 2017Aroc likes this.

Fox, I know you haven't ran alienware for over a year now. I need help flashing my bios in order to manually control my fans.... It's gotten to the point where my computer just freezes randomly again.. Not as frequently then when I first had everything up and running but it is still very frustrating. The fans work because I just updated the bios from a12 to a13 and the CPU and GPU fans kicked right up, so I know that it is not the hardware. Would you/anyone happen to have a good tut on how to flash an Alienware m17x r4 bios from a13 to unlocked a11? I posted on multiple forums, but I recall getting a quick response from you on this thread. -
One more thing, you know how if there is a driver crash for 880ms then they get downclocked? Is there a way to get them back to how they were before or are they permanently stuck like that?
-
If I recall correctly, you can simply flash it to the lower version. You only have to blind flash to downgrade to a pre-Secure Flash version. I never had an M17xR4 so the BIOS versions are unknown to me, but the theory should be the same as the M18xR2. Maybe @j95 can confirm this for you since he is the expert on M17xR4.
Based on my recollection, it was not easy to get them "unstuck" once they began acting stupid. I only used 880M for a brief period and not long enough to experience that problem first hand. I also used them in a P870DM-G Clevo to test 880M SLI prior to selling the spare GPUs I had. I never used 880M in any Alienware before, and it is possible part of the misbehavior may have been facilitated by Alienware BIOS problems. I say that because 980M behaves badly on older Alienware laptops compared to Clevo. Maybe @Johnksss@iBUYPOWER can remember if there was a trick to stop the 880M throttling nonsense, but if recall it was never consistent.EMZimm likes this. -
@j95 would you be able to help me out. I got my Alienware m17x r4 down to a11 bios now I just need to flash it. Would you be able to provide me with a tut or links on how to flash a m17x r4 a11 bios?
-
Hi all, I am new to this community, but I register because I want to say a lot thanks for the 345.20 MOD Mr. Fox, change the graphics of an Alienware M17x R4, a 675m by 765m, not the best graphics but that's what I can afford right now.
I do not know if in the future could give me failures, because in several forums I have seen that I would need the BIOS A11 and I have the A12, but I do not know how to change, however for now the notebook is very good.
Many thanks again and sorry for my English translation -
Hi Mr FOX and the rest of the community
trying to get a little more from my PC SPECIALIST OCTANE II - i5-6600K - GTX 980m 8GB - WIN 10 Pro - 1703 - 15063.540

I have been down the have disk route and get this driver is not compatible with ypour version of windows
Any ideas? -
