I've been dealing with this issue ever since January '09. Everytime I load up two clients of EVE Online the one client that is idling works great but the second one that is flying through space is ALWAYS the one that freezes. Once it freezes and goes to black screen then the computer still works up until I try to close that frozen client. Once I close it my computer works for about 30 more seconds and then completely locks up. I've had to turn my frozen computer off literally over 50 times because of this. I had an old thread that nobody could help me with so now i'm hoping a few months later somebody can try and help me.

Sorry, I don't game online. When you say you're running two clients, are you saying you are running two independent games of EVE at the same time?
-
Yep two different programs running in windowed mode so I can easily switch between the 2 accounts
-
I didn't know you could do that.
When you only run EVE in only one instance, do you encounter any problems? -
No problems at all.. I recently purchased the Sims 3 which is far more graphic intense then EVE Online and it runs great! Most Sims 3 fans can't even get it to run but mine has been flawless. I have updated the drivers too fyi

My only guess is maybe it's a Vista issue with EVE Online? I have no idea i'm not so tech savy like most people here on these forums
-
Sorry I couldn't help. I hope you're able to find a solution here DP!
-
this is not a hardware issue at all.
i would try this on win 7 and see if it does it.
the title is some what bashing AW when it clearly isn't the notebook -
Megacharge Custom User Title
My guess is it is either a vista issue, or more realistically, it's designed to do that because perhaps the game designers don't want 1 person with the same IP logging in online with two different accounts at the same time, also running two instances of the same program is known to create instabilities unless you have another user account in windows and right click the app and select "run under different credentials".
-
do you use lower rez/graphic settings for one client? or do you keep both settings on high?
are you signed in with different accounts or running under the same account? -
Best idea is do some research on this website. http://www.eve-search.com/thread/949044/page/1

good find Atol.... +1
-
Normally it should work, but in some cases you will need to set independant directories and caches if i recall, this sometimes happens, also clearing your cache completely for EON may help.
-
Does Eve offer a windowed mode? Often in other MMO's I find it useful to switch to window mode to alleviate lag from running 2 instances of the same game.
-
check the url I posted it has some info on how to do 2 eve.
-
Yes it does offer windowed mode, you can select it when you press escape at login/playing and change full screen to windowed and set your presets from there.

In response to some of the questions throughout this thread:
EVE is meant for mulitple accounts so the IP issue is ruled out.
I'm reading through that thread right now on the EVE forums to see what I can find.
The title was meant to draw attention to this thread since i've been waiting on an answer for 5 months now -
is your illuminated keyboard enabled in bios?
-
The illuminated keyboard has nothing to do with the bios. Only Command center controls it.
-
The Illuminated keyboard only works in Red (very faintly) the other colors come up for 2 seconds and then fizzle out
My $4000+ M17 can't handle 2 clients of EVE Online?
