    My Alienware M15X Arrived

    So it came yesterday and i love it btw i got it with windows xp bcos i dislike vista very much and all of it is great apart from the quality of the screen i have it on max resolution 1920*1200 and it still seems not that good. wen the pc starts up it says vga mode performance wtf is that lol and the blu ray isnt as good quality as it is on my 42"

    Please help im installing the new powerpack to see wat it is like

    did you order the WUXGA screen? becuase WUXGA on a WXGA+ screen will naturally look bad... also, what resolution did you set it to?

    this means that your laptop is using your dedicated GPU (8800m-gtx, i hope) and not the IGP. you can switch between these to increase battery life with Fn+F7.



    naturally it won't, on a 15.4" screen. although this also depends on which screen you have.

    i just installed the pwoerpack but half way in the setup its says this setup program cannot locate any drivers combatible with hard ware

    8600m gt i am runnin

    i would have thought the 1200p screen would be better quality ?
    Also i have got the 177.79 xp 32bit drivers but i get the same error :(

    well, you need to download the modded .inf and add it into the folder before you install.

    to what res have you set your display?

    out of interest, why only the 8600m-gt?


    for the driver: go to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19699&st=0&start=0 and download the driver and the modded .inf file. after you've unpacked the driver, drag&drop the modded .inf into the driver's folder to replace the old .inf. then, run the installer as you would any other program. the rest should run on it's own.

    no, but many people here say it's one of the best. i proposed it because it dynamically downclocks, unlike v177.79. if you want a newer one, the procedure is exactly the same for all of them.

    EDIT: course it's for Vista, that's why i asked what OS and version you had...

    what's that? if you mean the normal nvidia control panel, right click on your desktop and select it :D
