My Dell M17X will be here in 1 hour I cant wait anymoreso what do you guys recommend I should do first after it arrives?
By the way i am going to kill 64bit Vista Home and replace it with Vista Ultimate 32bit or Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit which i have a copy of.
Where would i find drivers for the 32 bit? Or where do i find Windows 7 64bit drivers?

Meh. you're one lucky man xD ... mine got delayed. I was suppose to get mine this week Wednesday now its next week Tuesday
-
Well, I am sorry to hear that, hope yours will get to you soon.
Why did they delay it? Mine got here fast because i bought the poverty pack version. -
I am not aware of 32 bit versions
you should be able to go to each parts website n get them -
yeah i will need 32 bit drivers because there are no drivers available for my usb 3g mobile wifi internet.
BTW is there a connection like HDMi to HDMi LCD TV? I wanna play movies in HD on my TV using the laptop. -
Things to do when you get it:
(1) Open box
(2) Take out M17x
(3) Use the M17x
(4) Go to sleep
(5) Wake up, use M17x
(6) Repeat until replacement -
yes there is a HDMI port
-
I have no clue why it got delayed. But im guessing its because of the WUXGA but other than that its stock ... but im planning on getting a quad q9100 or higher after i receive it.
-
-
Not really, doubt he will even notice the difference. Running Vista 32bit on this one at the moment
-
i dont like 64bit home vista anyway but i do have the 64bit Windows 7 so that will be nice
/
Seriesly i need 32 bit vista or i will not be able to get on the net. -
What do you mean u need a 32bit vista or else you cant get on the net?
That doesn't make any sense.
I've been using 64bit Vista and 64bit Win7 since its first Beta up to RC and up to RTM....and never had a problem connecting to internet... -
Think you missed this one azelexx
-
If you don't know wht that is, its a 3G Wireless card which connects to the internet through a cell phone provider over the cellular network, so you don't need to find a wi-fi hot spot, or lan plug in to connect to the internet, as long as there is 3G cellphone coverage you can surf the net (albeit at failly slow 3G speeds).

That's right Marvie - now the freaking delivery boy is late grrrr I am holding my M4A1 in my hands maybe I'll teach him some manners for not being on time.
-
-
OK the delivery boy finally got here i rang his boss and complaint about his lateness i guess he didnt like that so he stormed off.
Anyhow i got it it's nice disappointed with it though it's full of plastic they said it was aluminium wth liars.
The lid is solid need muscles to pry it open though wow man.
Hahahahah it regonised my ugly face haahahha cool but it didn't work in the dark because i always sit in the dark.
Nice computer wished they didn't lie about the aluminium thing because to me it seemed to be more plastic than anything else.
The mouse sux big time laggy and stuttering as i suspected because it's vista.
Going to install windows 7 now but i am scared i will have to download facial and Dell FX lightings.
Aside from that it scored 6/10 mainly because of it being full of plastic and the DELL Customer Service really really sucks made worse by a lazy fat delivery boy who just didn't give a rat's behind.
He got mad at me because i complaint about him being 1 and 1/2 hour late. -
Ummm they also didn't give me my name plate with my name it came with an empy plate that says m17x
-
Sounds like the fat delivery boy got a call from his boss half way down the motorway and decided to swap your plate, meanwhile transforming your machine into plastic.
I was joking btw.
The M17x does arguably have an aluminum chassis as they claim since the exterior is shielded with aluminum. It is an overkill and not to mention pricey to turn the entire interior into aluminum too. I have to say for a base config of USD1799.00 you are getting what you've paid for.
As for the nameplate, I'm not sure which country you're from, but if you did specify a custom nameplate on the Dell website, you have all the right to get them to send a replacement tag.
Finally, good luck with Win7! hope everything works out fine and you'll enjoy your laptop. -
hey bro win 7 works aweesome the drivers were on the dvd shipped with my m17x.
Windows 7 took away all the bad software installlation made by dell now my laptop runs awesome i am so excited.
Yeah its full of plastic but teh outside top part of the computer is aluminium another advertising trick by alienware but over all it is far better than the m15x.
Windows 7 is god damn awesome i love it.
Still cant belive it recognised my big fat ugly old face. -
cant believe they still using old tech/region dvd drive ummm and the webcam is disappointly old tech aswell only 2 meg webcam.
-
I cant stress enough i highly recommend Windows 7 the trick is to install the OS yourselve because the people from Dell cant read english therefore they cant install the OS properly.
When i first booted my laptop the software was a joke laggy and stuttering the mouse was a joke it lags and stutters.
Now i installed Windows 7 myself being able to read English the installation went smooth now my laptop is what it was supposed to be - PERFECT.
I cant make the plastic go away but
My Allpowerfull M17X Dell will b here in 1 hour ....
