make sure you are not in stealth mode and also make sure you have your power option set to high performance. I'm thinking this may be your problem.

well, with only 1Gb of RAM, naturally you'll get lag. VISTA alone uses over 700mb...

RAM is the easiest part to upgrade yourself so there is no need to send it in :)

Also, don't worry about the CPU, 2.1 should be fine for pretty much everything. I run a Napa (before Santa Rosa) 2.0 and it does well with everything so I wouldn't worry about upgrading your CPU!! :D

    Hope this helps! :)

well calling alienware would be the easier (for the less technology inclined) and expensive way to go... you can buy 4GB of ram for your laptop for much cheaper than the 350 alienware sells it for. and as for the processor it is definitely a bottleneck for your video cards. the best you can do if you dont wanna do it is send it in and atleast get a T8300 and 2GB of ram that is the minimum i would say the 8800 GTX and vista need. graphics cards are not the only thing that run games it is also the cpu and the ram hope everything works out it

I have that CPU in my notebook with 3GB of RAM, and it is most definitely not crap. It feels just as fast as my 3GHz Athlon X2 system.

I agree with you here, except that I think his real bottleneck (like most people) will be the Hard Drive. Since he does have a nice GPU, his HD would be the next slowest thing even running at 7200... the CPU IMHO is not a bottleneck at all. :)

You could buy from somewhere like Best Buy or Circuit City or from an online retailer like newegg.com. :)

What you'll want is RAM that is 2GBX2 (2 sticks of 2 GB RAM)... and it to run at 667 Mhz (PC 5300). :D

This shouldn't run you more than $70. :) Some of my favorite brands are Corsair, Crucial, and PNY...

Good luck with your upgrade! ^-^

yea true but these days games are going on both cpu and gpu (cpu more for physx) but i think its a waste of money atm to buy a SSD thats the only way he can get a faster HDD and its is VERY uneconomical. CPU is slower than expected not exactly a bottleneck but tis not helping a powerful graphics card like 8800 GTX the RAM is the biggest bottleneck and even AW's 2GB is not that far off from how much newegg sells it for

    Hi Sie
yes its definately your ram needs upgrading.
as whizzo stated above vista uses 700mb alone
dont forget if you are using vista 32bit your computer will only see 3.1gb of ram. the only way to see the full 4gb is to use vista 64bit.
you will have to dump the 2 512mb chips and replace them with 2 2gb chips.

by the way, are you in america or europe/uk
    hope you get it sorted.

Yepp like everyone else said it is because you only have 1Gb of ram. Upgrading to 4GB will make your system run MUCH smoother. Your processor is fine for graphically intensive games. It might struggle more with RTS's as they are more CPU based.

There are a few games that that runs better useing more cpu power. But there Turn base games. Like Civilation 4, Space Empire V. They are more Caculations in computer control players and you have to be running max Players and Large Worlds that you would need a high end cpu and Ram. Grapics wise They are Low end grapics.

What Odd is Space empire I use 80% of my dual core cpu power.
