There have certainly been some unfortunate moments with my M15X since I bought it in February. I have had the usual problems that many users experience:
-an unresponsive keyboard
-wobbly screen
-touch controls hardly work
-speakers buzz when used
Other than that, it has run games pretty well at a decent framerate and graphics level. However, as I was co-op'ing it up with my friend in CoD:WaW, my M15X just shut down. No warning at all. Just shut down. After about a minute of repeatedly placing my finger over the power button, I smell something burning coming from my computer. Sigh. When the power brick is plugged into the M15X, the green light starts blinking and making an odd noise. Since then I have tried everything I could do: taking the battery out, unplugging the power brick, and even contacting Alienware support. I was told to send in my computer and save my hard drive. Since I was not even able to turn my computer on, I could not do that and now run the risk of my hard drive being formatted. After the call I was promptly emailed a Fedex label. Today I sent it in and am starting the process of waiting "3 to 4 weeks." (After reading some of the customer support horror stories on this forum, I am starting to regret this decision.) When I was talking with Alienware Support, I asked if a refund was possible. Sadly, he said that I would receive none of the sort. It looks like the only way to get such a refund is if the hinge breaks. I wish it would just happen so I could get a new computer already. I know I might sound like a fool right here, but do any of the problems that I listed above occur in the M17X or M17?

I think he probably wanted you to take your hard drive completely out possibly..

Nope. Here is what the email said:
Back up any important or personal information on your hard drive before shipping the computer. Depending on the troubleshooting performed to your system, it may or may not be formatted. Alienware will not be liable for any loss of data. =/ -
a) What? They're offering refunds if the hinge breaks? Since when?
b) You probably could have asked them if they'd okay with you taking the HDD out before you sent it in. I can't imagine that they would have needed your HDD for that problem (it doesn't sound like it has anything to do with that), so.... Oh well, though.
EDIT: Ah, a search is bringing some of those up. I'm having the same problems, so.... -

for me, the problem with wobbly lid -> is because how the hinge is designed and the materials used. It only wobbles because the plastic is flexible so it stretches a little back a forth.
and the keyboard unresponsive -> just hit it with higher pressure then no words will missed anymore
for the touchpad, go to synaptics touchpad preference, and in settings of the device settings, go to sensitivity and make Palmcheck to the right end and touch sensitivity to the left end. It should then fix the touchpad unsensitive problem.
