I was having problems today with games just crashing to desktop. I just barely received my Hitachi 7K500 and 1333MHz 2X2GB Kingston HyperX CL7 memory modules today and installed them. It appeared that I had no problems at all, but 20 minutes into BF2142 my game just completely froze, loaded 2 or 3 more very slow images, and then crashed to desktop. I thought it was nothing to worry about, but then it happened again later on. This also happened to me in Batman: Arkham Asylum and it happened to me as well in Battlefield 2. I am pretty sure the RAM is the problem rather than the harddrive so I was wondering if the RAM is faulty or I need to fix the BIOS somehow.

Reading around, I found this post:
I tried running memtest86 as well but I get a 32bit compatibility issue.

Hey! Well I ended up using Memtest86+ through a USB and when I did the standard configuration for the tests... it came out with 0 errors. I don't know exactly what to make of it. I don't know much about computer components, but after reading various articles, a lot of people point to the RAM timings as being the culprit.

I went to look in BIOS for a way to fix the RAM timings to be the same as the ones listed by the manufacturer, but I couldn't find anything. Should I change my Performance preferences from:

    this?

    Would it make a difference?
