For the people who Ask why I pick a low end M17X. The answer is Simple. I can rebuild it over time and save some money.
My 3dmark06 score was 6996
By playing with the keyboard. It not bad. But I tend to sit in the lazy chair and use a wireless mouse keyboard.
The Quality of this laptop is good. I dont hear anything while opening or close it. The case is well built. No Cracks or anything.
Turning up the Volume all the way up. And No static sounds and it was loud.
The issue I had with the M5550I while going into sleep mode is not on this laptop.
The only problem I have the intergraded blue tooth and Logitech software for my mouse and keyboard.
Setting in Stealth mode the temp is around 38c to 40c for cpu.
Putting the M5550 next to the M17X you can tell this laptop is bad to the bone.
My next upgrade is dual 8800gtx and a secondary hard drive.

Do you have some pictures and video ?

Pictures please

I could only get a few pictures before I sent the M5550 back. My camra would only work on that system.
The laptop on the left is the M17X and the one on the right is the M5550 which I sent back and my little friend in the center is my Gecko. -
Nice looking thing man.

Sorry I slow down on picture due to the system I sent back was the one I use to copy pictures.

I am still working on images. The secondary image is 17 inch laptops one Sugar Pro Star and the M17X the Alienware alot larger but they are about 10lb each. -

Nice... gecko!
Would you mind sizing down your pictures? If you upload them to imageshack, you have an option to re-size them automatically.
Looks good... still very prone to fingerprints (but that was expectable).
Doesn't it voids the warranty having a gecko on your laptop? And be careful... you don't want to fry it!

I did the pictures on the M5550. The laptop I sent back. But what I can tell you even at low end this is a monster. So I need to find a way to send pictures.
things I hate is fingerprints. Unless you have a flash camra you will notice them.
The Tokey Gecko is real lizard.
The laptop next to the M17X Is a 5550 laptop. Last year model. The laptop I love due to the looks and such and I gave up to send back to pay for the M17X -
Problems related to the M15X is the keyboard. I had one key pop off. The case I see as solid and no sound opening the laptop. If you reinstall windows vista the Alienfx editor after reinstalling windows there could be problems. I tried it for fun. The tech could not reinstall it. he getting a fix today. I like clean installs.
Sorry I am not use to pictures. I hope that better.
What I can say at the M17X at the low end is great. Power In lord of the Rings shodow of angmar I was getting 20fps Max out. But what I was saying is I want to buy the high end. Monday I will buy one 8800gtx and the next month the other one and a cpu. The gecko. Yes I do see problems of this laptop but it minor. like the m15x the keyboard keys pop out. The other problem if you reinstall windows you might not get the color right due to the command center. I had a tech try to help me and he gave up. But having them do this will fix the problem.
Oh the sound system killer. -
Nice machine man. Good looking and Great performance.. i was wondering.. from where to get the Wallpaper that was on your M5550?

Atol,
Sweet looking laptop man. I am in the process of picking a laptop for my family and the m17x is one of the few left on my list. How is the overall quality of the laptop? Lid, keys buttons, screen, cd tray etc? How quick was the laptop delivered after you ordered it? How noisy is it under light use? Sorry, just a couple quick questions from a picky consumer.
Thanks

That gecko's pretty cute. I hear they're good for keeping away insect pests inside the house.
That aside, sweet-looking system. I wish I could bring around a 17incher with me, but that's out of the question
