Well I ordered 8Gb of 1333 HyperX from Newegg for my M17x and it did not like it one bit. BIOS recognized it as 1333 immediately and it did boot into Windows 7 once but BSOD'd less than 5 mins giving an error that told me the RAM module was not working right so I shut everything down and reseated the RAM to see if that were the issue.

It took 7 attempts to get into Windows 7 to run Memtest and that also failed so I promptly replaced the Elpida 1066 RAM it had in it and reran Memtest which worked flawlessly. Can anyone suggest another brand of 1333 RAM I am considering Samsung since I believe Elpida may be made with their architecture. Thanks..........

I myself have G.Skill Ram which work really well. Take note, it might not be the incompatibility of the ram, but rather the sticks might be faulty. Try booting into memtest directly by burning it onto an iso

G.Skill worked in My M17X R1. G.Skill 8GB 1333MHz, did you get a bad module? Actually when I returned the M17x I put the stock RAM in it to send it back and the G.Skill 8GB 1333MHz is in my M11x granted the M11x doesn't need it, but I figured I'd put it in it until I get around to ordering the M17x R2. Works fine in the M17x although it doesn't run at 1333 MHz obviously.

Thanks for the replies. While I ordered 8Gb RAM I got 4 2 Gb sticks so I was a little peeved at myself for making that error but decided to test the ability of the M17x with 4Gb of 1333 RAM vs the 1066.

No matter what combination I tried, except one stick only, it would not stay running so while I could see 1 stick being faulty I had a hard time believing all 4 could not get along with the others so I requested an RMA and Newegg agreed.

I'm not a gamer but do manipulate a lot of photos from my Nikon D3 and D3x cameras so having 8 Gb would be good for file manipulation as I have 12Gb in my 435T/9100 and it handles photos with ease. The M17x would be my road machine obviously and would love to get it near the main PC's performance, thanks.

I know Mandrake used it without issues.

Hey, I also have 2x4Gb which works fine.

Does it only work with one specific module or do both work when inserted as single? I would really get the latest ISO of memtest, ( http://www.memtest.org/) burn it onto a dvd and make a check which ram stick is faulty. It really happens very often to receive a faulty stick :( . Then youll be able to either exchange it at the store or contact Kingston support for a replacement.

Also, you can try running the inbuild Dell Diagnostics (by pressing F10 on boot)

The later batches of the HyperX 1333 stuff has been sucking hard in quality.....you most likely will need to just RMA it until you get a good pair

Also, make sure you are running the matched pairs together and not mixinf ram sticks, sometimes that will effect stability.

Personally, I have been using the HyperX 1333 modules for months with 0 issues - but again, these are from an older batch
